Introducing Hardstyle’s newest podium for talent – Overwatch Music!
Here at Alive at Night, our intention is to keep our eyes wide open on our constant search for new talent. Just yesterday, a new and enriching musical platform launched itself into the Hardstyle industry under the name ‘Overwatch’. Their wonderful debut EP caught our eye and we became rather eager to share it with you! As most of the artists on this label would be unknown for most of you out there, we decided that it was time to find out more about this fresh, new platform. Read on, get surprised and of course, don’t forget to support this new label!
When did the idea sprout to start with the label Overwatch?
Overwatch consists of a group of Hardstyle-producing friends who stumbled across each other within the world of Hard Dance music. At the time, none of us were signed to a label and we all had created our own little artist networks over the years. Operating as individual artists, it can be hard to find platforms or means to spread your music to the masses, especially when you don’t use sponsoring or any other form of paid marketing. Therefore, it made perfect sense to form a team to combine our forces and networks, enabling us to distribute our passion on a much larger, collective, scale.
Which artists form the first batch of Overwatch artists?
Aversion
Bwazza
Critical Hit
JACKO
Level One
Repeller
and Re-Vamp.
Over the years we became a group of friends, mostly because we share the same passion for the Raw side of the Harder Styles. Therefore, it wasn’t hard to create the first Overwatch pack of seven artists.
What’s Overwatch’s general vision about music?
Everyone at Overwatch has his own unique taste and vision, but one thing we have in common is that we all love the ‘raw’ sounds. Some like it a little bit faster and harder than others, whereas some like to create storytelling and mystic-sounding Hardstyle. The attached producers are free to be creative and make whatever they want. We all share the adrenaline rush we get from ground-breaking kicks and eardrum tearing leads. All in all, Overwatch focusses on the raw side of Hardstyle, basically everything between 150 and 160 BPM that summons epic bass-faces!
What do you want to contribute to the Hardstyle industry?
We believe that our music should be available to anyone who is interested, in the highest possible quality and full-mixes. We therefore have decided to release all the music on our platform for free, to ensure that everyone is able to share this passion with us. We want to provide our artists with full creative freedom. After all, this is what our passion should be all about.
Do you see Overwatch as a gateway to bigger labels?
Using Overwatch as a gateway to the bigger labels is up to the artists themselves. Some of us just want to create music without the hassle of contracts and expectations and will probably stick around for a bit. Others have the ambition to make a living out of their passion and for those artists, this platform might not be their last stop. Our ambition is not necessarily to become the biggest and the baddest in the scene; we merely want to provide the scene with quality, enjoyable tunes. We don’t see the other labels and artists as a form of competition; they all are considered as respected colleagues.
What can we expect from Overwatch in the nearby future?
Yesterday we released the download links for the full versions of our Launch EP on our Soundcloud page. You can expect more new releases very soon, so be prepared for some interesting collaborations and remixes in the nearby future!
