This week, we’ve been paying special attention to the lovely ladies of Hard Dance music and we hope you’ve enjoyed this special content! Today, we’re going to take a closer look at the diverse spectrum of genres in the harder styles and which gals are representing these different sounds.
Early Rave: Dana
There’s no doubt that Lady Dana is THE embodiment of a true Hard Dance legend. Spinning ‘gabber’ since the 90’s, she became an iconic figure of the movement and if you look back and watch old Thunderdome footage you’d probably see that Dana’s always put on immaculately mixed, engaging performances! She’s the most original of the originals, a musical legend and warrior, Dana is the QUEEN of the harder styles…
Hardstyle: Malua
Malu Mol, or better known as Malua, has truly proven herself in 2016! Since being warmly welcomed into the Scantraxx Recordz family in 2015, Malua has gone on to pump out an impressive stream of releases including “AHAH” alongside Kronos, “Brightness,” “Ferocity” and the acclaimed banger “Madness Is Coming.” Keeping her sound balanced, Malu isn’t afraid to mesmerise listeners with a stunning melody, nor does she hesitate to tear the place apart with rough, raw kicks! Raw Hardstyle: Deetox
Crowned as the queen of raw Hardstyle, Dutch prodigy Deetox has become one of the steadiest names in our industry. Known for her hard-hitting approach to the genre, Deetox has also generated an endless respect from fans and fellow producers for putting in the hard yards and mastering the ins and outs of production. Earning her spot on the Qlimax 2015 line-up, Deetox serves as an inspiration for aspiring DJ’s and producers as she teaches the lesson that hard work and devotion speak louder than anything.
UK Hardcore: Sc@r
Australian-born DJ Sc@r is unquestionably one of the most iconic ladies in Hard Dance music. Renowned for her stellar work in the UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore scene, as well as running her own label Scarred Digital, this hard-working lass is no stranger to the studio, pumping out some incredible productions such as “Something Different,” “Hybrid” with M-Project, “Some Day” with Fracus and “One Night In Belgium.”
Hardcore/Freestyle: Korsakoff
Korsakoff is unquestionably one of the longest-standing, most legendary ladies in Hard Dance music! Releasing a remarkable amount of music throughout the years, she’s even treated her fans to four (yes, four) diverse albums. With her specialty lying within the realm of Hardcore, in recent years Korsakoff’s melodic productions have also seen her making a name for herself in the Freestyle movement, where she has total freedom to explore Hard Dance’s entire spectrum.
Hardcore: AniMe
Who could forget about the world-renowned Hardcore boss bitch AniMe?! Representing Italy, AniMe burst onto the Hardcore scene prior to 2010, when she was welcomed onto the Traxtorm Records imprint. Now a key player in the Dogfight Records movement, AniMe has released numerous kick-ass tracks such as “Terrordome,” “A-Bomb,” “Sickness,” “Fear The Dogfight” and of course, her debut album “Exterminate,” which dropped earlier this year.
Uptempo: Lady Dammage
Representing Spain, Lady Dammage is undeniably one of the fastest-rising femme fatales in Hardcore! Boasting the ability to rock both the decks and the studio, Lady Dammage prides herself on her musical knowledge as she composes her own tracks. Signed to Darkside Unleashed, this Barcelona-based beauty has dropped an array of bomb-like tracks such as “Fear Me Bitches,” “Base Boom” and “Fuck It” and has spread her charm on crowds at Hardshock Festival, Harmony of Hardcore, Unlocked, Decibel Outdoor, The Qontinent and many more.
Terror: Mithridate
Hailing from Poland, Terror queen Mithridate made her move to The Netherlands at the age of 19, subsequently allowing her to become fully immersed in the Terrorcore scene. With an endless passion for the higher BPM’s and darker, vicious sounds, it wasn’t long until Mithridate’s skills were noticed by none other than Terror ‘Gods’ Drokz and Akira. With her first big performance at Masters of Hardcore in 2014, Mithridate has gone on to annihilate crowds at Defqon.1, Harmony of Hardcore, Footworxx, Dominator and Airforce Festival among others.
Crossbreed/Drum & Bass/Industrial Hardcore: Miss Hysteria/Lucy Furr
Sporting two aliases (Lucy Furr and Miss Hysteria), Malin Kolbrink is a legend of the underground! Beginning her musical career over one decade ago, it’s been evident all along that she’s always preferred the darker sounds as she experiments with Industrial vibes, drum & bass rhythms and dark, mysterious melodies. Over the years, Miss Hysteria has gained immense respect from Hardcore fans and producers alike, who admire her hard work in the studio, which has resulted in ass-kicking productions “Nyctophilia,” “Nothing Waits” alongside Ophidian and Lucy Furr releases “Submission” and “Infidel” among others.
