Who the FUCK are Concept Art?! That was the question for a lot of people when Frontliner announced the winners of his XQlusive Contest. Thomas? Stefan? Austrian-German duo? Another cool coup by Derailed Traxx? Supported by Headhunterz too? WHAT?! Fear no more, we will introduce you to these talented newcomers. We mailed Thomas and Stefan and they answered us a few questions about pyjamas, ICQ, the scenes of Austria & Germany and of course upcoming stuff!
Hello Stefan, Hello Thomas!
You just won the Frontliner Producer Contest, how do you guys feel about this?
It feels great. It’s always amazing if you’re able to play a Q-Dance event. Such things look great on the “CV” of an artist 🙂 We made it to the finals three times in a row now and this time it finally worked out – that’s something we’re really happy about!
The support for you guys was overwhelming, how do you explain that?
It’s hard to explain hahaha! But we think we developed further and the people really like the path we’re taking right now.
Tell us a little bit more about the set you submitted for the contest!
We try to feature all kinds of styles in our sets and that way we also compile out gig set lists. Also for this set we did it that way. People, so we think, really liked it again 🙂 We’re trying to get the right mixture of own productions, euphoric stuff, early and raw. What’s the saying again? “Die Mischung macht’s!” (ger: ‘the mixture makes it’ – the right mixture will eventually lead to a great result)
What can we expect from you guys at your gig at XQ Frontliner?
Lots of Bootlegs, Mashups and our two new tracks! We’re also gonna include some classics, in our opinion no set can go without one. So also in this case we will try to find just the right mixture!
Do you have any special favorites from Frontliner himself?
T: Discorecord
S: Warphole!
About you guys, how did you actually meet? It’s not usual to have a German-Austrian duo after all!
T: Well that’s actually a quite funny and coincidental story. We actually met in a musicians online forum. Stefan and I started talking and eventually exchanged ICQ numbers (back then ICQ was still a thing hahaha). Stefan did some solo tracks back then and since nobody of his colleagues was online he sent his stuff to me, I did the same and we decided that our ideas and styles actually fitted together nicely. Concept Art was born!
The Austrian and the German scene are amongst the fastest rising right now, can you tell us a bit more about the scene in your home countries?
It’s true that the scene in both countries is very much on the rise right now and of course we hope both scenes continue to grow. But especially here it’s important to know that you’re not in the Netherlands, in Austria it’s always rather difficult to play some “unknown” or new releases, the people here prefer the classics or tracks of well-known names. That situation is quite similar in Germany.
What can we expect from Concept Art in the next months? Gigs? Releases?
We’re not really allowed to talk too much about gigs right now ;/ it’s all still super secret 🙂 But in March there’s a collab with Peacekeeper coming out, on Derailed Traxx Grey, this one will also be played first at XQlusive. On the 16 Feb we’re on Q-Dance Radio NEXT! 🙂 So don’t forget to tune in there from 7pm-8pm!
Are you guys sleeping in Pyamas, naked or in undies?
S: Undies.
T: Sometimes naked (at home) and sometimes undies hahaha.
Anything else you want our dear readers to know?
We really wanna thank everyone that voted for us and support us everywhere they can! A special thanks also to Ilse, our Label Manager at Derailed Traxx grey, who really takes care of every single artist on the label.
