5 things we’d love to see happening in 2017!
As we edge into the final days of the year, it’s not only time to reflect on the past twelve months, but it’s also a time to look into the future and set some goals. In light of being in the final days of the year, yesterday we started off with the ‘bad news,’ as we outlined five outdated trends that we hope remain in 2016, and today it’s time to flip the coin and look at five things we’d like to see happening in the New Year!

More Hard Tek!
What happens when UK Hardcore and Frenchcore share a bottle of vodka and get it on in the backseat of the car? Hard Tek happens! After interviewing the majestic Dr. Peacock earlier this year, he regaled me with details about this intriguing genre and his plans to blend specific elements in with the Frenchcore genre. Comprising of uplifting vibes, high tempos and solid, rounded kicks, Hard Tek is the definition of insane energy. For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, jump online and check out artists such as Fant4stik, Billx, Floxytek, Mat Weasel, Vandal and Radium.
I’d LOVE to see this genre having its time to shine in 2017!

UK Hardcore integrated into Dutch festivals
In 2016 and specifically in Australia, UK Hardcore rose to reach all new heights. This success was signified when Gammer rounded off the year by showcasing the genre in front of 18,000 punters at Sydney’s Knockout Circuz. Furthermore, it appears as though UKHC is slowly making its way onto Dutch shores, after Atmozfears remixed Darren Styles’ hit-classic “Come Running” and Da Tweekaz collaborated with Styles himself to create “Heroes.”
Just like Hardcore sub-genres Terror, Industrial and Frenchcore are all well-represented, in the coming year we’d also like to see the happier side of Hardcore being showcased at Dutch festivals.

Established artists taking youngsters under their wing
We’ve seen just how much up and comers can flourish when given the right guidance and advice from established names. As our scene continues to grow worldwide, there’s a demand for top-quality tunes, especially from promising talents and for them to reach that summit, they often need a little push in the right direction. In 2017, what we need are more eminent DJ’s and producers who are willing to take these youngsters under their wing, as they have the ‘power’ or status to assist in providing that well-needed career boost.

‘Outside’ attention & appreciation for Hard Dance music
This year we’ve watched numerous Hard Dance artists making their way into more commercial spotlights during the DJ Mag Top 100, as well as their tunes landing some of the world’s biggest stages. Not only this, but Hard Dance music has generated overwhelming support from House pioneers such as Hardwell, Showtek, Carnage and Sander van Doorn amongst others.
As we swap over our calendars, one thing I’d love to continue seeing is this ‘outside’ support to Hard Dance music and its movement. I also hope to hear more House/Hardstyle collaborations, and perhaps Hardcore even making its way into the spotlight!

Maintaining the beloved ‘family’ feeling
If Hard Dance music is known for one thing, it’s that we boast a devoted fan-base who display unconditional love to one another. This year the unity has been real as ever; artists have become closer than ever to their fans, and fans have been reaching out to all corners of the globe to connect with other like-minded individuals. We hope that in 2017, members of the Hard Dance community can maintain a mutual respect and love for each other. After all, it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from or what you believe in – music binds us all and that’s definitely a reason to celebrate!
