The Apocalypse Is Here!
Titan & The Machine Talk About Their Collaboration
Yesterday, rawstyle heavyweights Titan and The Machine took it to their social media to tease their fans with the lyrics from their upcoming collaboration, “Apocalypse”. Building up the excitement, the guys swirled an array of excited messages from their fans who cannot wait to hear the track and feel it’s power blow everybody away in the GelreDome this weekend at Hard Bass. Let me tell you, after hearing this track and feeling it’s incredible atmosphere, I can definitely confirm that it is an absolute slammer! With a huge interest in the track and both the works of The Machine and Titan, I had the chance to have a quick chat with both of these masterminds to talk about their collaboration “Apocalypse,” it’s epic atmosphere and working together in the studio.
1. Thanks for chatting with me guys, first of all you guys recently worked in the studio together to create the track “Apocalypse” What was the interest to work with each other?
Titan: Hi guys, thanks a lot for having us. We have worked really hard the last couple of weeks to finalise our collaboration in time for Hard Bass. I’ve been a fan of The Machine and his tracks for a long time and have been supporting his old and new tracks a lot. I believe our styles really fit well together so we are happy that we found time to work with each other.
The Machine: Titan is really a big icon in the hardstyle scene. Over the last couple of years I’ve loved almost every release from him so when Titan approached me for a collaboration I was very happy. I really believe our styles fit together and I’m very happy with the track that we have created. I believe it’s really different but still recognisable.
2. So I had the honour of exclusively listening to the track and wow, it’s HUGE! What were the main ideas behind the track?
Titan: Well we have approached this track in a very special way. We wanted to create a track that hits the dance-floor hard but still has an epic storyline.
The Machine: We have brainstormed for a long time on what the theme of the track should be. In the end we wrote a really cool storyline that represents both Titan, The Machine and the apocalypse.
Titan: The most important thing we had in mind was to be fresh but recognisable as artists. We really managed to blend our styles perfectly together without doing any concessions.
3. The title of the track “Apocalypse” really suits the atmosphere of the track too! Do you guys feel as though the name really fits with the atmosphere of the track?
The Machine: Well the apocalypse represents the end of the world. The track talks about being enslaved and freed from fear in preparations for the final apocalypse.
Titan: When I think about an apocalypse I think about a cinematic destruction of the world. Our collaboration has a lot of atmosphere and I believe the Geldredome will be torn apart when the bass kicks in! So the title definitely fits the track.
4. The track has this huge punchy atmosphere yet this unexpected melody too. Were you planning on making something like that?
The Machine: We really focused on making the track the way we liked it, no boundaries attached. I believe the melody really adds an extra dimension to the track.
5. Also the vocals are quite cool within the track as you both have a part that represents you as artists. What was the big idea behind that?
Titan: Like we said, we really wanted to tell a story with the track. We want people to close their eyes and visualize the story.
6. The track has a bit of an older sounding atmosphere which can mainly be heard in the melody, were you aiming for that?
The Machine: We really had no boundaries when making the track. I definitely believe that for example the mid-intro takes you back to the older Fusion sound that we both really like. The melody indeed sounds a bit 2009ish, however this wasn’t done on purpose.
7. What are you expecting the public’s response to be?
Titan: We are always curious about the first reaction from the crowd. Later this week we will preview a small sample so keep an eye on our social media.
8. And Titan, will you be playing this track at Hard Bass?
Titan: I will play it for the first time this Saturday on Hard Bass, make sure that you don’t miss my set!
9. Finally, are you guys satisfied with the end result?
The Machine: I’m really happy with the result. Can’t wait to see the reaction of the people!
Titan: The track will do its job. Time for the final apocalypse to hit Hard Bass!
Thanks to both Titan and The Machine for chatting with me! You should all definitely keep an eye on their social media as they will be posting a snippet of “Apocalypse” very soon!
