Yesterday’s Kingsday madness may be responsible for thousands of massive hangovers across The Netherlands, but hey, it was worth it, right? Dressing up in orange and drinking your body weight in beer is sounds like a fantastic way to casually spend your Wednesday, however now it’s back to reality as we shake off that stinging headache and finish off the week. So, with reality comes a little light reading and a hell of a #TBT to put a smile on your dial.
This morning as I was doing my usual 6km run I was feeling rather exasperated and needed a wrathful song to assist me in my sprint to the finish line. Suddenly, it was as if the angel of the iPod’s had read my mind because the next song that came on exactly matched my fury to a tee. Every time my ears are graced with this certain 2010 release I feel something real and after hearing it on my run this morning I knew that it was time to put it in the spotlight.
Proudly presenting our #TBT for this week, lets give it up for the furiously sensational “Answers” by Chain Reaction.
Released on Minus Is More in 2010, “Answers” was commended for being a refreshing track that broke the conventional boundaries of Hardstyle. At that time, melodies and euphoric atmospheres were a thing, however Chain Reaction pursued the path less walked down, creating underground, industrial flavoured tunes with a raw edge. With the vocal sample taken from ‘A Few Good Men,’ this track soon became an anthem, each time it was played, fans would scream the lyrics at the top of their lungs.
The life-like feelings that “Answers” captures is indescribable. The musical aspects of the track in combination with the lyrics and the dark atmosphere create a world that listeners can immerse themselves into.
In 2013 and just as raw Hardstyle began peaking, pioneer Adaro added his own spin on the original, resulting in one of the biggest remixes to demolish the scene. If you thought that the original was already great, then multiply the aggression by 10, add in some screeches and heavy kicks and you have yourself a winner! Every time this remix or its counterpart original are dropped the crowd transforms from everyday civilians into a vicious mob of people ready to start a riot. Simply said, “Answers” is a time-transcendent gem.
“You want answers? I think I’m entitled… You want answers? I want the truth! You can’t handle the truth!”
Salute to Chain Reaction and Adaro for this unforgettable track and its remix!
