#TBT – A well deserved tribute to A-Lusion’s “Start Living”
This week we’ve had a small taste of summer; well, only for a few days, but the warm weather has surely seen my spirits a little higher than on a rainy, miserable day. We always take the summer for granted. During the season, we always look forward to the weekends and completely forget to embrace the weekdays – then, as soon as we know it it’s 8 degrees and we’re posting #TBT’s every week, begging for the summer to “come back.”
We’re all guilty of not embracing our work days to the fullest and this week’s #TBT somewhat teaches us to appreciate what we already have. I actually re-discovered this tune whilst I was on a run the other week; it was featured in one of Heady’s old Hard With Style podcasts and I immediately felt chills run down my spine as it pushed me on the final mile back to my house. The lyrics somewhat touched me; the fundamental desire to always seek more than what one has hit the spot and in that moment, I took a moment to soak in the environment around me and enjoy the fresh air.
Let’s throw it back to 2012 when the melodies were majestic, and bass was reversed. Our #TBT this week goes to A-Lusion’s track “Start Living.”
For those looking for a trip back down memory lane, I suggest you give a good listen to A-Lusion’s ‘Out In The Open’ EP. Here, you’ll find some incredible tunes, one being “Start Living.” This track is, without a doubt (and in my opinion), one of the most underrated tracks of that ‘era.’ I’m a sucker for powerful melodies and the melody and chord key in this tune is to die for – I’d take it any day over the majority of the ‘melodic’ music released nowadays.
“By the time we realise that the things we already have are more beautiful than the things we still want, at that moment, we start living…”
