Check out our monthly Top 10 releases for February!
It feels as though it was just yesterday where we majestically welcomed in 2017 by clinking glasses and popping bottles. It’s hard to believe that two months have already passed, and that in a matter of weeks the tides will shift as residents of Europe will finally emerge from the past six months spent in hibernation. Down here in the Southern Hemisphere, the summer months are coming to a wrap, and although it’s liberating to sleep in cooler temperatures, the long, carefree summer nights are going to be sorely missed.
However, before we farewell February and welcome in March (yay, my birthday month), let’s take a moment to look at Hard Dance music in retrospect as we sum up our Top 10 favourite tracks from the month!
*Talent Track* – Firelite & Archetypez – Reckoning
It seems as though the next-generation is looking promising as ever! Hailing from down under, solo star Firelite and upcoming duo Archetypez are proving that nailing Hardstyle isn’t just for the Dutch as they deliver a monstrous collaboration, titled “Reckoning.” With Firelite spreading his wings and opting for maximum roughness, these three dudes have evidently created something special; so, for those who are on the constant search for fresh new talent, then look no further!
#10 – ANDY SVGE – Evolving
Bursting into the scene less than a year ago with spectacular debut hit “Gravity,” ANDY SVGE has kept the momentum running high with his subsequent releases. Next up to grace his ever-expanding discography is the space-like, melodic bomb “Evolving,” which is undoubtedly going to serve as a defining track of Hardstyle’s future direction – epic atmospheres, monstrous kicks and emotional undertones.
Coming in at number nine is none other than Masters of Hardcore representative Re-Style with his majestic new track “Rock The Show.” Get your body moving to the fast tempo and feel the bass penetrate your soul – this one’s a total banger and will pull you through the final coldness of winter.
#8 – War Force – The Coming Of Noise (Supremacy Australia Anthem)
This weekend, down in sunny Sydney, the very first edition of Supremacy will be held, thus marking a new chapter for raw Hardstyle down under. Honourably headlining this event with their killer anthem, stellar live-act War Force have exceeded all expectations with their majestic, yet tough slammer “The Coming Of Noise.”
#7 – Jakka-B & Summa Jae – Your Love
A couple of weeks on Valentine’s Day, we had the honour to premiere Jakka-B and Summa Jae’s brand new collaboration, titled “Your Love” and guess what? We just couldn’t get enough of it! Coming in at seventh place, this donk-tastic, euphoric number will have you floating on cloud nine as the energetic beats fill your heart with joy.
#6 – Phuture Noize – The Temple
In recent months the scene has been going absolutely crazy for resident QT Phuture Noize, and the hype surrounding his forthcoming album ‘Pursuit Of Thunder’ is matchless! Pushing a sophisticated and musical vision, this high achiever strives to create immaculate tunes that make the listener both think and dance and his latest release “The Temple” doesn’t fail to push all the right buttons!
Exotic, groovy and spicy are three words to describe Bass Modulators’ latest creation “Mantra.” After hearing a ton of melodic, hands-up vocal-based tracks from these two, it’s quite refreshing to hear that they’ve ditched their comfort zone and delved into new territories. For all the Psy Trance fans out there, instead of utilising the Psy bassline, Bass Modulators have instead incorporated some funky deep forest jungle vibes!
#4 – Activator – 2017
A couple of weekends ago I ventured out on a Saturday night to witness one of Italy’s most iconic artists, Activator, tear apart Masif Saturdays. During his set, out of nowhere, this funky, deep-bass banger appeared and I could barely contain myself. Exhibiting the constant, driving groove of Psy Trance, in mergence with some killer reverse bass and stuttered vocals, it baffled me why Activator’s latest “2017” isn’t generating a sea of hype. People of the world, you are yet to discover this new wave of Hardstyle!
#3 – Deetox feat. Elyn – Paralyzed
Taking an ambitious leap away from her usual ‘rawness’ and veering towards a more wholesome and ‘hearty’ sound, it seems as though the fruits of Deetox’s labour are beginning to flourish after her latest track “Paralyzed” featuring Elyn literally exploded into the scene. Released on Hard With Style Records, if this surprising track is any indicator of what’s still to come for Deetox, then bring it on!
#2 – Endymion & MYST – See You Again
You know that liberating feeling when you come across such an incredible track, that you want to simply throw all caution to the wind and run down the street naked? Yeah, well, that’s how I felt when I laid ears on Endymion & MYST’s latest collaboration “See You Again.” The nostalgic, yet uplifting atmosphere of this track made me want to smile and cry at the same time and the progressive melody made my skin light up with goosebumps. I absolutely cannot wait to hear this one being belted through colossal speakers this festival season!
#1 – *WINNER* Sub Zero Project – The Project
Already crowned one of the most influential tracks of the year, Sub Zero Project have really outdone themselves with Psy flavoured banger “The Project.” Cleverly combining elements from both genres, this dynamic duo literally have a goldmine on their hands and it’s exciting to see how this release will impact the direction of ‘raw’ Hardstyle in 2017. If you’re not particularly a fan of the Psy bassline in the beginning, I warn you, don’t write this track off yet, because once the melody arrives it’s oh so sweet! Big ups to Sub Zero Project for taking out February’s winning track title – a job well done, boys!
