Australia Day Special: Meet the Aussie Hard Dance heroes!

Down under in Australia, fellow bogans, lads, lasses, cunts, m8’s (whatever you want to call us) are celebrating the nation-wide public holiday Australia Day. This day is notorious for leaving Aussies in an alcohol-induced stupor, and is said to bring out the inner bogan that’s inside each and every one of us.

Today, as we cheers our beers and attempt to kill the summer mozzies with a pair of thongs, we should also take the time to appreciate the numerous talented Australian artists in the Hard Dance scene. Some have relocated to conquer Hard Dance’s central hub, The Netherlands, whilst some are enjoying an endless summer and marking their territory on homeland. Nonetheless, it’s time to take a look at just a small handful of the guys and gals representing the green and gold in Hard Dance music.

Code Black

Releasing tunes since: 2008 as Inverse and Bioweapon, before releasing as Code Black from 2011.

Signed to: WE R

Best known for: Those fucking leads! And, of course, being the first artist to make merchandise from a pair of thongs (we’re talking about the shoe, not the skimpy underwear).

Our favourite: Code Black – “Pandora.”

Audiofreq

Releasing tunes since: 2004. First he released music under his Acolyte alias, then as Orbit 1, before moving onto Bioweapon in 2008 and finally, as Audiofreq in 2011.

Signed to: Audiophetamine

Best known for: Being one of the most open-minded, visionary producers of our time. His funky crossover beats have opened up an array of possibilities within Hardstyle and beyond.

Our favourite: Audiofreq & Scope DJ – “Robot.”

Toneshifterz

Releasing tunes since: 2008 under his Lumin8 alias, whilst releasing as Toneshifterz from 2009.

Signed to: WE R

Best known for: Striking up a tasteful blend of old and new elements. This dude knows how to nail a sick reverse bass, whilst incorporating beautiful, harmonious vocals.

Our favourite: Noisecontrollers & Toneshifterz – “Jaydee.”

Outbreak

Releasing tunes since: 2010 as Nitrouz and 2013 as Outbreak

Signed to: WE R Raw

Best known for: His unique and flavoursome approach to raw Hardstyle which combines numerous elements. Oh, and of course, who could forget about his 2014 release “#Bassface?!” That’s still one of my all-time favourites.

Our favourite: Code Black & Nitrouz – “Can’t Hold Me Back.”

Delete

Releasing tunes since: 2009

Signed to: End of Line Recordings

Best known for: Blending the unconventionality of the underground with the conventional by combining industrial vibes with huge atmospheres and mesmerising melodies.

Our favourite: Delete – “Just Do It.”

Kamikaze

Releasing tunes since: Pre-2015

Signed to: Gearbox Digital

Best known for: Being amongst the hardest working female DJ’s and producers in the Hardstyle scene! She’s also well-known under her Mistortion alias, which focuses on Hardcore.

Our favourite: Kamikaze ft. Losty – “PayUp”

Dillytek

Releasing tunes since: 2013

Signed to: Keep It Up

Best known for: Their accessible and fun take on melodic Hardstyle and of course, being able to successfully execute a remix of Avicii’s “I Could Be The One.”

Our favourite: Dillytek – “Feeling.”

Vazard

Releasing tunes since: 2009

Signed to: Spoontech

Best known for: Pure fucking Spoonage! The real underground warriors praise Vazard for his ability to create industrial-flavoured raw that’ll inflict a bassface like no other.

Our favourite: Vazard & Delete vs Main Concern – “Absolute Terror.”

Decipher

Releasing tunes since: 2012

Signed to: Masters of Hardcore

Best known for: Being the leading Aussie Hardcore act! Comprising one half of the Decipher & Shinra act, he’s currently flying solo and is totally killin’ it in Europe.

Our favourite: Decipher & Shinra feat. MC Tha Watcher – “Down Under.”

MC D

Featured in tunes by: Outbreak, Tuneboy, Da Tweekaz, The Viper & Evil Activities

Best known for: His endless passion on and off the stage. This dude keeps the Masif Saturdays crowd hyped up on a weekly basis and because of that has become an iconic figure within the Aussie harder styles scene.

The Strangerz

Releasing tunes since: 2011

Signed to: Dirty Workz Anarchy

Best known for: Being one of the most promising up and comers in the Aussie scene. These dudes have recently broken into international territory when they signed to Dirty Workz which is exciting news for all!

Our favourite: The Strangerz – “Fire & Blood (2016 Remix)”

Fanatics

Releasing tunes since: Pre-2012

Signed to: Dirty Workz Anarchy

Best known for: Being two friendly, down-to-Earth dudes who have not only played a major role in the growth of Hardstyle down under, but have represented Australia during their European tours.

Our favourite: Fanatics – “#RFG”

Synthsoldier

Releasing tunes since: 2015

Signed to: VNTG

Best known for: Mixing older influences with new production techniques and showcasing this vision on his VNTG platform. Keep an eye out on Synthsoldier, cause’ his tunes are exceptional!

Our favourite: Synthsoldier – “The Sound.”

Firelite

Releasing tunes since: 2016

Signed to: VNTG

Best known for: Being insanely young, yet fully capable of producing tracks with an impressive level of quality and creativity. This youngster is hot competition and even exceeds the talent of the Dutch ‘talents’.

Our favourite: Firelite – “Desire”

We’d like to wish all of our Aussie readers a drunk, enjoyable and safe Australia Day! Get the BBQ crankin’, crack open a cold beer and enjoy the warm weather. For the rest of you, we’re sure that you’re enjoying the freezing temperatures.

I believe a producer by the name BLN should of made the list. By far one of the most talented up and comers in the scene. He also took the win of the Defqon.1 Producers competition last year.
