Artist Of The Month – January 2016!
Welcome to 2016! We turn over the crumbled leaves of this past year onto a fresh, clean slate where we are able to explore untouched avenues filled with endless possibilities. For all harder styles fanatics, it’s safe to say that 2015 was an exciting year that brought forth innovative concepts, undiscovered talent and of course, some great music!
Over the past twelve months, we’ve kept our eyes on one particular duo that has been developing and pioneering a new-found sound, which has led them to be included on line-ups for the most illustrious events. This particular duo were off to a slow start in their initial years, however after they found their signature sound, nothing was holding them back from reaching extraordinary milestones!
We’d like to introduce you to our first artist of the month for 2016… Frequencerz!
After bursting into the scene in 2008 with their first two releases on Explosive Records, it wasn’t long before the public gained interest in the duo after their release “Tomorrow & Beyond” in 2009. At this time, their sound was developing into a hard, yet refreshing and accessible take on raw hardstyle, subsequently resulting in leading label Fusion Records taking special interest in their work and releasing “Phaser” and “Driver” on the label in 2010. Working diligently on developing their sound, Frequencerz soon became one of the most promising new names as they scored themselves bookings at Defqon.1, Bassleader, The Qontinent, Euphoria and were a part of the Fusion Of Sound tour. Although the pair was off to a slow, yet steady start, triumph was yet to present itself in a matter of time…
2012 rolled around, marking one of their biggest breakthroughs to date – the release of “Fight For Survival” with In-Phase and of course, “Bitch,” which soon became a favourite amongst fans. These two releases also marked a turning point for the duo, who had transitioned over to creating dark and cutting-edge raw hardstyle. Around this time, raw hardstyle began to shine and Frequencerz were recognised as a duo that led the movement with their penetrating screeches and demolishing kicks.
Niels and Pepijn kicked off 2013 with a bang by releasing “Burning,” one of their most memorable tracks to date which cemented their names in the hardstyle scene and paved the way for bigger and better things! This year also marked a new development for Frequencerz, who teamed up with B-Front to perform as live-act B-Freqz in a packed out GelreDome at Hard Bass. More amazing releases such as “Delusion” with B-Front, “Caught In The Fire” with Endymion and DV8 Rocks and sensational hit “Rockstar” followed, showcasing their production skills and dedication to crafting versatile, high-quality music.
Remarked as one of the leading names in all things rough and raw, Frequencerz had the honour to tear a new one through crowds at Thrillogy, Mysteryland, Decibel, Tomorrowland, CRAFT, Intents Festival and Qapital, in which they had the honour to create the incredible anthem “Raw & Uncut.” Speaking of music, the duo were on fire in 2014 as they continued to take the scene by storm by releasing timeless hits “Men Of Steel” with E-Force and “Psycho” and “Fatality” with B-Front. These energetic and atmospheric hits were not only amongst the most memorable of 2014, but have been recognised as tracks that define modern hardstyle and set the bar extremely high for future productions.
Within the past year, Frequencerz have taken a surprising and exciting turn in their career, achieving many astonishing milestones such as performing at Qlimax for the first time and of course, being a key player in the formation of esteemed hardstyle label Roughstate. On stage, this dynamic duo are always having a great time and giving every last ounce of energy to their performances, regardless of whether they’re standing in a full GelreDome or a small club in the middle of nowhere. Frequencerz also like to give back to their dedicated fanbase; this down-to-Earth duo are notorious for partying with their fans in party buses and even gaming with their fans!
Music-wise, the guys have evidently been focussing on bringing powerful, spine-shivering music that’s accessible to all hard dance fans. Tracks like “Warrior,” with MC Nolz, their uplifting, melodic edit of Hyperdrive’s “The Punishment” and “Divine” and “Overdose” as B-Freqz showcase a versatile and atmospheric approach to production as Frequencerz step away from traditional raw hardstyle. Their latest release “Wolfpack” with Tartaros has already taken the hardstyle scene by storm as it turns over a new leaf, revealing endless possibilities for their innovative and refreshing sound.
As we step into a brand new year, we have no doubt that hardstyle rockstars Frequencerz are going to uphold their legacy through their productions and performances! They’ve already got some huge things lined up, including their hosting at Rebirth Festival in April and performances at Knockout and Hard Bass. To top this off, we’d like to wish Frequencerz the very best in 2016; we can’t wait to see what tricks they have up their sleeves!
For the rest of our readers, we wish you all an incredible 2016 filled with great music, memories and next-level experiences.
