“TNT – dictionaries relegate this word for a yellow crystalline compound used mainly as explosive, as it can only explode by means of a detonator. However, TNT also stands for…. ”
When Technoboy ‘N’ Tuneboy join forces as TNT, a musical fusion occurs, creating Hardstyle anthems so LIT that they could indeed be described as explosive.
Italian Hardstyle icons Technoboy (Cristiano Giusberti) and Tuneboy (Antonio Donà) launched their TNT project all the way back in 2002 – meaning that this year TNT are celebrating an amazing 15 years!
TNT tracks including “First Match”, “Ti Ta TNT”, “Freakuency”, “Second Match” and “Tritolo” already had an established place in Hardstyle history when TNT took the big step, in mid-2011, of releasing an album; proving that far from being a side project, TNT as a duo were most definitely here to stay.
“It was 2002 when we decided to play, that was the first match and we’ve come a long way”
‘The Album’ featured “First Match 2011” (a reworking of TNT’s original debut track), “Scared”, “Dial T For TNT” and more, including “Utta Wanka”, which features some of the best insults ever incorporated into Hardstyle lyrics.
TNT continued to be an unstoppable force in Hardstyle, with every release destined to become a Hardstyle classic; including “Canzoncina”, “Musick”, “Blacklist” and of course the ubiquitous “Digital Nation” by Technoboy, Tuneboy & Issac.
Further collaborations saw TNT’s influence as a duo spread far and wide across the scene through tracks such as “Intensity” with Zatox, “Sucksess” with Kutski, “Ghettoblaster” with Audiotricz and most recently “It’s My Style” with Brennan Heart and “Splinter” with Audiofreq.
Technoboy’s productions have always made ingenious use of samples and lyrics taken from earlier decades of pop and dance music; this influence is most definitely also present in TNT productions. Last year, TNT enlisted the talents of vocalist Popr3b3l for “I’m Raving”, a cover of an iconic rave anthem. In a nod to the original track’s place in hard dance history, “I’m Raving” was released in three different versions; the original mix, an ‘old school’ mix and a remix by Darren Styles!
Also within the last year, Technoboy and Tuneboy struck gold with “Mellow”, not only drawing on a classic 70’s vocal sample but also pulling Showtek – yes, Showtek – back to the dark side for one more time! “Mellow” was literally the biggest tune on the European festival circuit last summer – an anthem designed to make main stage crowds sing together in unity, for the love of Hardstyle.
Experimenting with the latest trend in Hardstyle, or should we say ‘Psystyle’, this year TNT brought us “Psylent Hill”, incorporating Psytrance elements into Hardstyle. Staying on a trance tip, TNT have also just revealed their brand new remix of Binary Finary’s “1998”. “1998” is one of those tunes that everyone knows, even if you don’t know its name, and which brings a blissful smile to every face on the dancefloor – will we be having that “1998” hands-in-the-air moment at Midnight Mafia?
With so, so many old and new anthems to choose from, TNT will be armed with a veritable arsenal of musical ammunition ready for Midnight Mafia – make sure you’re on the dancefloor for this very special TNT aka Technoboy ‘N’ Tuneboy 15 year anniversary set!
