Zany – Interview At The Hardstyle 2000 Countdown
Fusion Record Label Showcase
From the 28th of December until the 4th of January, Revulsion FM has done the honourable task of putting on the biggest countdown show consisting of the top 2000 hardstyle tracks of all time! This week isn’t only about the countdown however, there’s a lot to keep your eye on such as interviews, guest mixes and who could forget about the label showcases!
On Friday the 2nd of January during the Fusion showcase, I caught up long-standing hardstyle master Zany. After the Fusion mega-mix, I had the chance to sit down with Zany to have a quick chat about his achievements, being at the forefront of Fusion records and also his opinions about the new talent in the scene.
1. As a longstanding figure in the scene, how does it feel to have achieved so much in music?
It feels great to know that we made the scene happen all around the world. It’s a great feeling that the hardstyle movement has continued throughout the years and it’s cool to be a part of it.
2. You’re also an authentic Fusion pioneer – what do you think about the upcoming talent within the label?
*Fusion new recruits standing on the decks behind Zany* Oh no……. Hmm… *Laughs*
No I’m joking, we are really happy with our talents. They are really great at producing and also at DJing. They are Fusion artists so they have to be good! We are really happy to have the new guys on board and we are hoping that they are huge motherfuckers all over the place!
3. For you, what does Fusion stand for?
You know what it stands for – the best hardstyle ever! No that’s a joke…
What is most important to achieve is party music that our listeners can really feel. I like to combine every style of music and fuse it together, that is what ‘Fusion’ stands for!
4. I would like to talk about some of your upcoming productions, do you have anything big planned for 2015?
Oh yes! I am very busy with a lot of new stuff that’s coming up. I have a lot of different stuff coming up too.
5. How different are we talking?
Slightly…
6. Slightly different or very different?
Very different! *Laughs*
7. Speaking of different sounds, I spoke with Thyron about experimenting with gated kicks and also older style melodies. How do you feel when you hear the next generation carrying on the sound?
I really like it! The most important thing for me is to try and get these guys to make their own sounds and I tell them to create their own stuff. I want the upcoming artists to do their own thing.
8. What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
That would have to be my X-Qlusive party in 2007 which was the best night ever for me. It was one of the biggest achievements that you can get as an artist as you have a whole party that is dedicated to you and your career. I was also the first artist to have 2 X-Qlusive parties, so it was very special.
9. Finally, what did you eat for breakfast?
I think I had a worstenbroodje.
Thanks so much for coming onto the show Zany, we wish you the very best for 2015 and cannot wait to hear what you come up with next! Also, a huge thanks for the Fusion family for coming down to the Hardstyle 2000 countdown show!
