Thunderdome 2017, aka, a Hardcore-heads wet-dream come true… As soon as the date 28/10/2017 dropped into cyberspace, you were the first to ring your boss and ask for the entire week off work. Real Hardcore fans aren’t fucking around here; Thunderdome is literally the world-cup of Hardcore and some serious preparations need to be done, such as finding the perfect tracksuit, taking time to get your shaven head on point and listening to numerous mixes to get hyped up for the big night.

A true fan would know that Hardcore isn’t just the stuff that’s played on the Dominator mainstage – there’s so much more to this intricate movement than meets the eye… Knowledgeable fans are likely able to describe the ins and outs of the numerous sub-genres underneath the Hardcore umbrella such as Uptempo, Frenchcore, Terror, Speedcore, UK Hardcore and Industrial.

Your sleep-deprived neighbours hate you

You may be the type of die-hard who hosts wild afterparties that continue well into Monday morning, or perhaps you’re hooked up to an IV that constantly flows with Hardcore music. For all the aspiring DJ’s and producers, when inspiration strikes during the night hours, your neighbours are the first to hear your latest creations at full blast. Hardcore isn’t a genre that’s designed to be played at half-volume – and your neighbours likely hate you for it…

Inking up is just one of the many things that die-hard fans do to show their dedication to the movement. Some have a simple Thunderdome logo tattooed on them, whilst others rock their favourite lyrics or artist logos.

It must be encrypted into the DNA of Hardcore fans, but for some reason the vast majority of them can seriously pull off a shaven head (even the girls). It’s like the universe even knew…

You are broke because your entire salary goes to festival tickets

Forget spending money on lush vacations or expensive items of clothing, Hardcore fans prefer a great experience over materialistic things any day! Being front and centre at a festival is the greatest feeling imaginable and is much more special than buying that expensive pair of shoes, however it comes at the expense of always being broke as fuck. FOMO is a real thing for true Hardcore fans; they hate missing out on parties, whether they’re big or small. Nonetheless, somehow they always manage to scrape enough money together for the next event.
