Victory Forever! A message for the weekend warriors of Defqon.1…

We’ve made it!

From the moment we heard Q-dance’s infamous closing “wow-wow” on a crisp Sunday evening in 2016, we’ve been longing, craving and waiting for another edition of Defqon.1. Now, one year later the time has come for us to pack our gear, dust off our favourite pair of Nikes especially saved for the occasion and make our way to Biddinghuizen for an unforgettable weekend.

Some of you have travelled from as far as Australia and the States to attend this sacred gathering, some of you are about to experience the festival in full force for the first time and for some extremely devoted folk, this will be your fifteenth edition of Defqon.1!

Before you mark your territory on the campsite, crack open your first beer, rack up your first line of speed or make your majestic entrance into ‘The Gathering,’ I’d like to say a few words to all of the weekend warriors out there, who are about to embark on an experience of a lifetime.

Defqon.1 only comes once a year, so make the most of it!

First of all, I want each and every one of you to enjoy your weekend to the fullest. Forget all your worries about school or work; these two things will be there on Tuesday, so why waste a weekend thinking about them?

Put your phones away!

Get out there and socialise like real people and soak up the festival’s totality through the lens of your own eye, not the lens of your iPhone’s camera. By all means, get some relevant snaps, but for god’s sake, living and cherishing the experience is much more important than having a video of the endshow that will come online in HD the following week!

Take care of yourself, and those around you

It’s a festival, so obviously for many of you this means that there’s going to be some serious drinking and drug-taking! Enjoy it, but don’t go overboard. A weekend festival is a marathon, not a sprint, so please take care of yourself and your friends! If you feel as though you’ve ingested on a sketchy pill and are not feeling too crash hot, inform your friends and seek medical attention immediately.

Go and watch an artist you’ve never seen before!

Hanging around the mainstage all day is fine, but wouldn’t it be even cooler if you found yourself swept up by the talents of an artist you’ve never seen before?! For lovers of Raw, go and check out a classics set, and for veteran ravers, go and be surprised by an Uptempo artist!

Get out there and explore! Defqon.1 is infamous for its incredible design, to take a moment out of the day to walk around and check out every single stage, as well as the other random artworks across the terrain.

To all the weekend warriors, this weekend it’s victory forever! Stay safe, party hard and savour every single moment of Defqon.1 – from the opening moments, right up to the dreaded “wow wow” on Sunday evening.
