The Pitcher – Interview At The Hardstyle 2000 Countdown
Fusion Record Label Showcase
From the 28th of December until the 4th of January, Revulsion FM has done the honourable task of putting on the biggest countdown show consisting of the top 2000 hardstyle tracks of all time! This week isn’t only about the countdown however, there’s a lot to keep your eye on such as interviews, guest mixes and who could forget about the label showcases!
On Friday the 2nd of January during the Fusion showcase, I caught up long-standing player in the scene, The Pitcher. After the Fusion mega-mix, I had the chance to sit down with The Pitcher to chat about his upcoming album “Shock and Awe,” his upcoming documentary and also his loyalty to Fusion records.
First of all, thanks for coming in and happy new year! Looking back on the past year, do you feel as though you’ve achieved all of your musical goals?
Yes definitely. First of all, we started the “Hardstyle Quantum” podcast and we have just finished with the 50th episode. We also started the new album “Shock And Awe.”
Yes, congratulations about your upcoming album “Shock and Awe,” what is the main storyline behind the album?
We started with “Smack” and that was a really great album for The Pitcher and we made some other tracks but now it was time to bring The Pitcher to a new level and make another album. Shock and Awe is all about the next level.
So what exactly is this “new level?” What can we expect to hear?
We’re going back to the 2009 style a little bit. The real Fusion sound, it’s going back to the roots of hardstyle! We’re very excited for the fans to hear it.
In 2014 you also started your own podcast “Hardstyle Quantum,” how has the response been over the past year and what are you hoping to do with the podcast in 2015?
We have just finished the podcast after the 50th episode and now we are going to keep our eye on the documentary “The Hardstyle Way.” The first episode is on Monday the 5th on YouTube.
Okay great! So can you tell me a little bit of a story behind the documentary?
The documentary is ultimately about my life as The Pitcher. We film going to gigs, some things about my private life and even here at the radio station as you may have seen the cameras.
Finally, what did you eat for breakfast?
I had no breakfast today! I went to the IKEA store with my girlfriend and we ate some Swedish meatballs and tomato soup – so that was my breakfast!
Thanks to The Pitcher for chatting with me! We cannot wait to here what you guys have in store for us on your upcoming album and also in the documentary! Keep your eyes posted as we will be interviewing The Pitcher again in an in-depth look at his album “Shock and Awe,” the old-school Fusion sound and also his documentary.
