#TBT – A well deserved tribute to Ran-D’s “My Way”

Moving towards the end of July, it seems as though we’re over halfway through the summer *sigh*. From the exciting moments of early-June when the long days had just begun, right up to Defqon.1’s eternal joy, from then on, the summer has literally flown by! With just a few more signpost events to go, as soon as we know it we’ll be launched right to gloomy October when the days are short, cold and boring as hell. But not to worry, we should remain in the here and now and enjoy the final 2 months of the festival season!

Seeing as it’s Thursday again (thank god), it’s time to highlight another classic tune that’s shaped Hard Dance music. Released back in 2012, this particular tune is quite different from traditional Hardstyle, as it heavily focusses on a robust and powerful vocal. None of this fluffy, whingey euphoric shit, the vocals in this track are pure gold and are written and sung by the producer of the track! Yep, I’m indeed talking about Ran-D’s 2012 hit “#MyWay.”

Ran-D dropped this tune on A2 Records’ catalogue conveniently around the time I first got soaked up in the world of Hardstyle. I was a fresh, innocent virgin who needed the right guidance. Supported by artists like Ran-D, I was led down a path that opened me up to quality tunes like “#MyWay.” The vocals in this one are so powerful, emotive and motivating. Every time I hear this track I feel completely empowered and energised, as if I’d sculled a double espresso!
