#TBT – A well deserved tribute to Ophidian’s “Butterfly”
First of all, we hope that everybody is enjoying ‘Hardcore week’ so far! Although we’ve pumped through a ton of features and interviews already, we’re not joking when we say that there’s still a lot more to come! Celebrating this vast genre and movement has been eye-opening and educating for all, and today, as it’s Thursday we’re going to pay special tribute to one of Hardcore’s most legendary productions.
Musical from its core, this particular track is unquestionably one of the most remarkably complex pieces of art to ever exist. Composed by Hardcore’s underground mastermind Ophidian, it’s time to spotlight one sparkling gem from his endless collection… Give it up for our #TBT this week – Ophidian – “Butterfly.”
Released back in 2004, “Butterfly” did the unimaginable for Hardcore at that time. Incorporating industrial kicks with a melancholic atmosphere and an incredible piano riff, this carefully composed track is the definition of sheer perfection. Stunning, intricate and emotional all in one, Ophidian set a whole new standard for Hardcore music, a standard in which producers strive for a harmony between musicality, complexity and power.
No matter how many times I hear “Butterfly” it doesn’t get old – it just doesn’t. Big ups to Ophidian for this masterpiece, as well as all of his other spine-shivering productions.
