#TBT – A well deserved tribute to Crypsis’ “Strike”

Aside from spending this week relaxing beach side in beautiful Greece, this sudden free time has allowed me to listen to music for hours on end whilst distracting myself from the massive sunburn I’m evidently building. Discovering new tunes on my iPod as well as digging up some forgotten classics, I also had the chance to listen to a couple of albums from start to finish – one being Crypsis’ 2009 “Statement Of Intent.” Of course all of the tracks on this bundle of work are simply legendary, but what happened next for Crypsis? Well, in 2010 he came out with a subsequent EP and one of the tracks included has been one of the most influential pieces of art for myself as a listener… It seems as though no matter how many times I hear this powerful slammer I still manage to feel a storm of intense emotions, so it was a no-brainer that it’d be featured at some stage.

So, straight from sunny Greece, I’m proud to uncover and spotlight yet another brilliant masterpiece. This week let’s give it up for Crypsis’ 2010 release “Strike.”

Words can’t even begin to explain the immense atmosphere this track timelessly displays. It’s dark yes, but also incredibly empowering and energising – no matter how many times “Strike” is played the crowd will still lose the last of their minds. Additionally, the whole ‘subconscious’ mind notion in the track adds a slightly eerie vibe and when combined with the pounding drum and darkly majestic sound design it forms a fully fledged ball of unstoppable power.
