#TBT – A well deserved tribute to Brennan Heart’s “Imaginary”

This week hasn’t been an easy one. Not only have I had some personal ‘crap’ on my plate, but to top it off, I’ve had to take on full-time hours at my side job, leaving me completely exhausted. Waking up at 6AM each morning and not finishing until 4PM, I’m left barely any time to express myself creatively and that hurts. However, I know that there’s a silver lining, because in four and a half weeks I’ll be on an aeroplane, flying back to my (second) home, The Netherlands.

Whenever I start to think about all the good that lies ahead, my tears dry and I feel stronger than when I focus on what’s going on during this current moment. So, with this in mind, our #TBT this week is a track that serves as the perfect ‘inspirational’ soundtrack for me. This modern classic is an anthem in Hardstyle and a track I’ll forever hold closely. Give it up for our spotlighted track for this week – “Imaginary” by Brennan Heart, featuring Jonathan Mendelsohn.

Released back in 2013, “Imaginary” impacted the Hardstyle scene in more ways than one. Shortly after its premiere, this incredibly emotive track quickly captured the hearts of millions of fans from around the world; it gave people hope, made some cry and made others fall head over heels in love with Hardstyle.

One special experience I’ve had with “Imaginary” was actually at Defqon.1 Australia during the end-show; the stage erupted in a concoction of lasers, fireworks and pyrotechnics and I could literally feel my eyes well up with tears. I didn’t care that the festival was moments away from ending, all I could do was embrace whatever was happening in that very moment.
