On the 3rd, 4th and 5th of June, Oisterwijk was transformed from a typical, tranquil small town into a terrain packed with lively ravers who gathered to celebrate the annual Intents Festival. For visitors, it was all fun and games, however the 20,000 residents living in houses that surround the festivals terrain didn’t seem to be fond on having little sleep that weekend. This dissatisfaction generated approximately 180 complaints in total as residents of the area made obvious noise complaints, however made complaints about festival-goers wandering around their town appearing to be “drug demons.”
Many of us know by now that the vast majority of outsiders to the harder styles do seem to negatively associate our genre with drug-taking and aggression and this isn’t necessarily the case, however try explaining that to small-town civilians of the Noord Brabant town Oisterwijk… Oh, and should we mention that somebody did? A local man named Geert-Jan stood up for the party-goers and the festival, exclaiming to others that he didn’t experience any troubles with the festival or the people attending. What a champion!
We’d like to thank Geert-Jan for sticking up for Intents Festival! As a token of appreciation, an idea came about to raise some money to give this great guy a cake! Aside from showing our thanks to Geert-Jan, the remaining money will be donated towards the charity “Stitching Opkikker,” a charity dedicated to helping sick teenagers enjoy their lives to their fullest potential.
