Prefix & Density – Interview At The Hardstyle 2000 Countdown!
Theracords Showcase
From the 28th of December until the 4th of January, Revulsion FM has done the honourable task of putting on the biggest countdown show consisting of the top 2000 hardstyle tracks of all time! This week isn’t only about the countdown however, there’s a lot to keep your eye on such as interviews, guest mixes and who could forget about the label showcases!
On Monday evening, I caught up with the upcoming duo from Theracords, Prefix & Density. After their guest-mix, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the guys to chat about the act a little more, their sounds and also come future plans for 2015.
This is what went down…
1. Thanks for the great set guys and thanks for chatting with me! Since you guys signed to Theracords in 2012, how have you grown as an act in terms of production?
We have grown a lot actually! Before Theracords, we released one track on Spoontech records and after we released our first track on Theracords we received huge support artists such as B-Front and this gave us a huge motivation to keep working hard. When you compare tracks from that first release to today, you can hear a big difference in quality.
2. So there are obviously two of you, as two individuals, what do you both musically stand for and how do you combine these two visions in the act?
It’s a bit difficult because we are two different people and we like to make most of the differences between ourselves. We both stand for Prefix & Density and want that to be our sound as a duo. However, you can still hear some of those signature sounds in there from our single productions. We both have our strengths and qualities we are both producers and we are proud of that.
3. How did you guys meet and come together to form Prefix and Density?
We met on the internet actually! We met on a producing forum and decided to do a collab over the net as we both live quite far apart from each other. We worked well together and decided to go further as a duo.
4. What other genres are you inspired by and how do you combine those elements with hardstyle?
In our spare time we listen to a lot of different music because at gigs and when producing you hear hardstyle all of the time. From classical to pop and trance we love it! We like to take elements from other genres and use that within hardstyle.
5. You have had some awesome gigs this year such as Wish, Q-Base, Thera Invites and also an upcoming gigs at Loudness and Rebirth, what are your thoughts?
We would love to get more bookings! Big or small, we love doing it. The big bookings and festivals are great but also the small ones are fun, you get a lot of interaction with the crowd.
6. What does it mean for you guys to be a part of Theracords?
Hmm…
*Thera watching, laughing*
Were very happy at Theracords. In 2012 we did a Ground Zero contest and before that we sent some tracks in to the label and since then they’ve been awesome to us. We have total freedom and can produce whatever we want which.
7. What are your resolutions for 2015 as an act?
We’re really busy behind the screens with a big project which includes a lot of tracks. It’s going to be a surprise so you will just have to wait!
8. One last question, what did you guys eat for breakfast?
Wouter: Plain bread with peanut butter
Bas: A bowl of yogurt with jelly.
Thanks for chatting with me Prefix & Density and a big thanks to the Theracords team for coming in for the showcase! Keep your eyes on Alive At Night this week as we will be posting up all of the interviews conducted on the show!
