House Goes Hardstyle: Check out Hardwell’s surprising new solo track.
Usually the story turns the opposite way when Hardstyle pioneers turn to House music, but not for Dutch EDM heavyweight Hardwell, who has evidently been branching out musically over these past couple of months. First it was Pussy Lounge where he made a surprise appearance and rocked out on stage, then came the ID remix of “Mad World” and a few weeks ago he was spotted in the studio with young-gun Atmozfears to create one of the most highly anticipated collaborations of 2015!
So, what’s going on with Hardwell? Is he going to get involved with hardstyle or is he sticking to what he knows best? Only time will tell…
A matter of hours ago, a link came up on Soundcloud, indicating that this house-hardstyle crossover was the collaboration with Atmozfears, but inside sources corrected this, saying that the link below is actually Hardwell’s new solo track. As a first-time effort at hardstyle, it’s not too bad and with time, energy and practice at the genre it’s no doubt that this EDM pioneer could master production of hardstyle.
The first half of the track represents a slower, housier sound and towards the end the tempo rises and the intensity grows and drops into hard kicks. This is a different crossover as opposed to a 130BPM house track with hardstyle flavoured kicks and I guess that it’s kind of growing on us!
Maybe the fact that we lost Showtek and Headhunterz to House music might mean that we can a housie in the hardstyle scene!
You can listen to it here – this is NOT the collaboration with Atmozfears.
What do you all think? Will Hardwell cross over to the dark side more often or should he stick to house?
