Astrology 101: Hard Dance duo compatibility explained by the stars.
Here at Alive At Night, aside from writing articles, interviewing artists and engaging in banter from time to time, myself and a couple of other writers in the team are firm believers in the stars and other trippy happenings of the galaxy. For those who don’t really know what’s going on, let me give you a quick run-down before I get all ‘gypsy’ on you. Last month, I posted my very first ‘astrology-related’ article where I spoke about the twelve different signs, the common personality traits that come along with them and which artists fell under what sign. In short (and in astrology terms), the position of the sun at your time of birth determines your ‘sun sign,’ commonly known as your ‘star sign.’ The sun is very important in the astrology world and is said to rule things such as willpower, ego and some fundamental personality traits.
After receiving a lot of positive feedback on just how accurate some of the descriptions were, I began thinking about the compatibility side of things. As you would have read in the previous article, certain sun signs are compatible with each other, just like others tend to clash with one another. Yes, I know that it’s not particularly common that people strategically choose their friends or boyfriends/girlfriends based on their zodiac sign, however I thought that it’d be a fun little experiment to use the common knowledge of zodiac compatibility in relation to Hard Dance music.
So without further procrastination, we’re jumping in one deeper to take a look at what the stars say about Hard Dance’s renowned duo’s as we take a look at just how ‘compatible’ they are. Again, we’ll let our readers and the artists themselves decide on how accurate the stars are.
Bioweapon
Leo (The Royal) + Aquarius (The Visionary)
Fellow lion Code Black and Aquarian Audiofreq worked together for many years as Bioweapon before splitting up and pursuing separate endeavours, however over the past year the pair have come back into action, reviving their previous legacy and embarking on new and exciting ventures. Despite Leo and Aquarius deemed as ‘opposite’ signs of the zodiac, their diversity can be highly advantageous for an interesting collaboration.
Pros: Leo and Aquarius is a combination in which ideas become realities and where both parties thrive on respect and admiration for each other. There is also a strong potential for friendship and with friendship comes enjoyment from working together. Leo may be the more verbal and talkative member of this team, while Aquarius is the brains behind the operation, quietly planning and organising the work they do together. Leo needs a bit of Aquarius’ vision in order to advance its career goals, while Aquarius can benefit from Leo’s prodigious social skills. The most remarkable thing about a professional collaboration between a Leo and an Aquarius is that their relationship is filled with action and excitement. Neither sign like to remain idle; this partnership has the skill and resources to invent new ideas and execute them. The relationship represents an awesome combination of innovation and activity.
Cons: Problems could arise if Leo try to dominate Aquarius too much, or if Aquarius remain too aloof and floaty. The partners need to realise that they have entirely different character. Leo could be too zealous and ambitious for Aquarius, and Aquarius could be too undependable for Leo. However, once they value their relationship, they would overcome their problems. In the long run, Aquarius business partners may demand too much attention for Leo taste, and may have too little psychological understanding of their colleague to keep him or her happy.
Gunz For Hire & Bass Modulators
Taurus (The Lover) + Leo (The Royal)
Not only are Gunz For Hire a Taurus and Leo blend, but Bass Modulators also fall under these two signs, so let’s knock out two birds with one stone. Fire sign Leo are recognised as being born-leaders, likeable and at the centre of the spot-light, whereas stable Taurus is a sign that’s great with finances and represent the ‘humble life.’ The combination between the dramatic personality of Leo and quieter Taurean can be very harmonious in the sense that both signs weaknesses can be balanced out by the others’ strength. These two make a great team; their dedication to fulfil their plans calls for a long-lasting business relationship.
Pros: Despite belonging to two elements that traditionally clash (fire and earth), one thing Taurus and Leo have in common is that they despise change. Both signs are also ambitious; Leo strives for fame and fortune and Taurus strives for security and stability. Their different goals rule out any need for competition. Taurus can assist Leo in not making impulsive purchases and Leo can loosen Taurus’ stubbornness towards spending money and make investments to further their brand.
Cons: Both signs want to be the boss, which can cause disputes, however if they can reassure each other of how important work is then their conflicts can usually be resolved. Both signs need to be able to understand and accept each other before working together as their diverse characters might cause them to argue constantly. Taurus never gives in as they don’t like anyone dictating them and Leo might construe this as obstinacy. Although Taurus is equally determined as Leo, they might give in to avoid a full-fledged conflict when it seems imminent.
Alive At Night gals: Cassi & Sara
Aries (The Hero) + Pisces (The Dreamer)
This next zodiac combination takes a look at the foundations that lay down this very website. Born on opposite sides of the month of March, Sara (Pisces) and Cassi (Aries) are examples of two zodiac signs that could not be more different. The differences between aggressive Aries and tranquil Pisces suggest that this alliance is an improbable one; the elements fire and water typically suggest a poor match, however in reality, this working relationship can turn out to be one of the strongest combinations.
Pros: Ruled by Mars, Aries thrive on being influential and leading the way; they can teach Pisces how to stick up for themselves, be strong and active and realise their dreams. Pisces can assist Aries with slowing down their frenzied life and bringing out the softer side of their character. Most times, Pisces have no intention of being the leader and consequently, when asked for help, they assist the Aries without challenging her dominance in any way. Because Pisces is such an intuitive sign, the Pisces partner in this relationship has an innate understanding of Aries – better than Aries themselves does, in fact.
Cons: At times, the fish softens the ram too much and its water could dampen the ram’s fiery temper more than is desirable. Pisces needs to appreciate Aries fiery attitude and allow them to be impulsive (and bitchy) from time to time. Aries has to be careful not to ‘push’ Pisces with commands or be impatient or insensitive to their slower pace and emotional sensitivity. The success of this combination sometimes depends upon the Pisces’ tolerance, seeing as Aries is such a full-on sign that needs to control their temper.
Da Tweekaz
Taurus (The Lover) & Virgo (The Healer)
Now, this is one of the strongest zodiac combinations we’re going to look over today. Why’s that? Because Taurus and Virgo both belong to the ‘Earth’ element, meaning that this pair see the world through the same pair of spectacles. This goes for all elements, basically, the most compatible combinations come from those of the same element. Nevertheless, both Taurus and Virgo are rational, practical, well-disciplined and have extremely high standards – it’s no surprise that Da Tweekaz comprise one of the most respected and hard-working duos.
Pros: The most remarkable aspect of a partnership between a Taurus and a Virgo is their devotion in achieving their common ends. Taurus and Virgo enjoy the good things in life, and Virgo loves to help Taurus attain their combined goals. Both signs desire financial security and their love for opulence make them both work hard in all endeavours. Both Taurus and Virgo are practical minded and neither of them would spend money beyond their means, however both signs do love the comforts in life.
Cons: The only real difference between these two signs is that Taurus is a ‘fixed’ sign and Virgo is a ‘mutable’ sign, meaning that they are both rational and focuses, but Taurus’ attention is guided to one pursuit, whilst Virgo are interested in many things at one time. Taurus needs to allow Virgo to deal with many things at once and Virgo can teach Taurus that versatility is better than single-mindedness.
Clockartz
Libra (The Idealist) & Capricorn (The Sage)
Libra and Capricorn are two signs that care a lot about the image they portray to the public, however personality-wise, there’s not many other traits that these two have in common. Libra are social and outgoing, and love to interact with people and Capricorn are more erudite and work constantly towards their goals without giving much attention to other things. Their differences aren’t such a bad thing, dissimilar characters can still reach great success.
Pros: As co-workers, Libra and Capricorn respect sustained effort and high-quality work; both signs can achieve things that they wouldn’t be able to achieve on their own. The biggest commonality these two signs have is that they are both ‘Cardinal,’ meaning they’re good at initiating new projects and ideas; Libra’s actions arise from their desires, whilst Capricorn’s actions arise from practicality. Creativity and pragmatism are both covered, making this a great match with music production and behind the scenes activities.
Cons: The fact that these two signs see the world very differently can call for both individuals going their own way from time to time or not listening to each other. Capricorn must be conscious of not slowing Libra down too much or burdening them with criticism. Libra may come across as disorganised, carefree, flaky or irresponsible and is a far cry from Capricorn’s serious and dry attitude.
Psyko Punkz & Alpha2
Cancer (The Homemaker) + Virgo (The Healer)
A working relationship between Cancer and Virgo is typically plain and simple, yet powerful and can bring a lot of material success. Both signs are well disciplined and strive to achieve common objectives. Furthermore, both signs are also huge worriers, so the both seek for stability, comfort and security. With Virgo’s intellect and knowledge and Cancer’s intuition and emotions, both signs appreciate each other, making this combination a very powerful, creative team that passes with flying colours.
Pros: Both signs possess good common sense, and well-formed standards. They both enjoy the luxuries and pleasures of life, but are willing to earn them through hard work. Water signs are known for their emotions and intuition and the crab often controls the partnership in a sedate way. Cancer can teach Virgo to trust their intuition and Cancer will learn how to take on a more practical approach to life and its tasks.
Cons: As Cancer is one of the most sensitive and emotional signs, they can be easily wounded by Virgo’s constant scrutiny and criticism. Cancer must learn to not take the rants so personally and understand that Virgo is just neurotic. Routine Virgo would likely dislike Cancer’s obstinacy, moodiness and trust towards their instincts, however there aren’t many other major differences between these signs.
Frequencerz
Taurus (The Lover) + Aries (The Hero)
Fire sign Aries and Earth sign Taurus could not be any more different, but hey, they comprise one of the most successful duos we know! Aries represents energy and ambitious, whilst Taurus represents calmness and amicability, leading to a pleasant balance. Despite having a lack of personality traits in common, their divergent personalities can be a benefit, especially within creative industries.
Pros: A business partnership between these two signs has a lot of potential, seeing as they get along well on a friendship basis. The Aries is the sign of ideas, high-power and bringing life to concepts, whereas the Taurean is practical and will excel at keeping the production flowing and administration in order. If Aries tried to make impulsive decisions and rushed headlong into things, the Taurus could teach them to consider things more carefully and if the bull got caught in a long and dull streak of indolence, the ram could incite it into action.
Cons: Arguments about money may arise between these two; Aries is reckless and a spendthrift and their impulsiveness and lack of organisation can annoy Taurus, who dislikes sudden change in routine. Aries want to be in command of things and their own destiny, whereas Taurus look for stability and security, which may make them appear as stubborn.
Bass Chaserz
Aries (The Hero) + Leo (The Royal)
In zodiac world, a Fire-Fire combination is a strong, dynamic and passionate blend that thrives on adventure, competition and motivation to achieve big things in life. Leo-Aries duo Bass Chaserz comprise one of the most ‘compatible’ duos in the scene and personality-wise, there’s probably not much that these two don’t agree on.
Pros: Both of these signs have similar personalities and understand each other very well. Aries give Leo the assurance to tackle problems on their own and Leo give Aries the urge to keep pursuing and finish tasks that they start before moving onto something else. Both signs burst with vitality and positive energy, making this unique mixture able to move mountains (or burn them down).
Cons: An Aries-Leo combination is all about healthy competition and domination, so this pair has to be very careful to not let their competitive edge affect their partnership. Both signs boast massive egos and thrive on being the leader, which can lead to some tense moments and power struggles. These two signs have to accept that partnership doesn’t always need a ‘leader.’ Thankfully, arguments between the pair never last long, they’re already onto the next challenge!
Audiotricz
Capricorn (The Sage) + Aquarius (The Visionary)
Duo Audiotricz represent sagacious Capricorn and floater Aquarius. Evidently a union of opposites, Aquarius are intelligent, innovative and take a visionary approach to life, whereas Capricorn abide by rules, are practical and don’t particularly enjoy the ‘unknown.’ Once these signs have shared ambitions, in this case, music, their personality differences are overcome and they can develop a solid union.
Pros: One of their commonalities is that both of these signs are adamant and stubborn; both signs ensure that they get what they want. Capricorn often initiates projects in this collaboration and Aquarius is happy to play a significant role in these projects. Aquarius would find solid strength and support in Capricorn, but might not like their persistent nature and regularity of actions; they can also teach Capricorn about the beauty of variety and excitement in life. Capricorn could show Aquarius the benefits of an organised and comfortable life.
Cons: Capricorn keeps their life organised and ordered and desire results and Aquarius are modern, finding mundane work dull and uninteresting. Disagreements occur between them, especially if Capricorn is too interested in their ambitions or Aquarius end up being too imaginative and visionary and diverge from the task at hand.
