Artist Of The Month – May, 2016!

As the daytime stretches out longer and sun begins revealing itself, you feel those joyful feelings felt when the beloved summer season has finally arrived. Despite the fact it’s not quite ‘beach weather,’ Harder styles fans don’t really seem to care as they typically they find their joy dancing the day away beneath the biggest productions, as opposed to tanning on the beach. A few of the most anticipated events have already been ticked off the list, leaving ravers wanting more as they anticipate the best months that lay ahead…

Speaking of the future, let’s get down to it! As we roll on forth into the first week of May, we’ve chosen another deserving name to be put in the spotlight this month. This particular duo have been deemed as the past, the present and future of Hardstyle as they have successfully piloted the scene for over thirteen years and are still going strong!

After years of pumping out quality tunes, they’re currently in the final stages preparing for the release of their debut album “Recharged,” so ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for our artist(s) of the month for May, Alpha²!

Biological brothers Arjen and Anco Timmerman were born in different years, however these two could not be any more similar when it comes to their musical vision. Sharing an incomparable bond with the medium of sound, these two ‘twins’ kicked off their career as resident DJ’s at the notorious Qlubtempo events, otherwise known as the birthplace of Hardstyle. Their anthem for Qlubtempo marked the beginning of a wild roller-coaster ride as the duo worked conscientiously on creating their own wholesome sound. Renowned for bringing the beloved ‘raw’ Hardstyle sub-genre to life, back then Alpha² were deemed as heroes as the underground as fans grew to love this fresh, rough sound.

Early releases such as “Nowhere To Hide,” “The Darkside” (Qlimax 2006 Anthem), “Fragments” and “Say Yeah” with Ran-D were the definition of musical gold as Alpha² shed a whole new light on Hardstyle. Throughout the late 2000’s, the pair rose to a new-found success, securing themselves bookings on colossal stages at Hard Bass, In Qontrol, Mysteryland, Qlimax, Tomorrowland, Defqon.1, Dominator, XXlerator and many more.

In 2008, the pair embarked down a whole new avenue which would subsequently allow them to boundlessly showcase the sounds of raw Hardstyle. After releasing their music on various labels such as Q-Dance, Mythica Records and Sys-X Records amongst others, Alpha² conceived the A2 Records concept. Serving as Scantraxx Records ‘evil twin,’ A2 Records served as a platform for music with a darker edge, celebrating hard kicks, rough screeches and heavy atmospheres… Boasting rawstyle heavyweights such as Ran-D, Adaro, Gunz For Hire, Digital Punk, E-Force and Alpha² themselves, A2 Records took the scene by storm with its unparalleled team of talented artists and plethora of top-quality releases.

The years following the birth of A2 Records brought forth some of Alpha² most legendary productions. Tracks such as “Kick Back,” “The New Shit” with Ran-D, “Let It Go” took the scene by storm, however these were topped then the twins dropped their stellar remix of Headhunterz, Wildstylez & Noisecontrollers’ “Tonight.” This remix had a massive impact on the scene; deemed as one of the most legendary works of that time, this fresh work of art soon became a time-transcendent gem.

It’s only a fact that success in the early days can go two ways: you can be deemed as a legend of the past, or continue pursuing a legacy… For Alpha², the past few years have marked a turning point for the duo, who were determined to not only showcase their old music at early Hardstyle concepts, but also be renowned for their new tunes. Embracing the raw Hardstyle goodness, their newer releases “Das Weite Land,” with Jack Of Sound, “Hostile,” “Willow Waly” and “Life Lessons” have proven that this dynamic duo know a thing or two about maintaining their musical legacy.

This very notion is what surrounds their forthcoming album “Recharged,” which is set to drop within a matter of months. Consisting of an array of killer collabs, remixes and fresh, new originals, this album showcases Alpha²’s new and enriched sound. With previews of several tracks already out, this pair have been unleashed before, however they’re recharged and better than ever!
