June is undoubtedly one of the busiest months of the hardstyle calender! With the mother of all festivals (Defqon.1) right around the corner, artists have been feeling the pressure to bring the finest beats to their set this year. With many huge releases in the months of April and May, we were clearly able to hear the standouts. However, to kick off the month of June, one particular album was definitely what set this artist apart.
Who most hardstyle fans describe as ‘God,’ threw hardstyle into a curveball with his brand new studio album ‘All Night Long.’ Yes, we are indeed talking about our artist of the month for June – Noisecontrollers!
For the last decade, Noisecontrollers has grown as not only an act that thrived heavily on creativity, passion and innovation but also as a long-standing icon within the hard dance scene. Since Bas Oskam and Arjan Terpstra came together in 2005, they stuck by their goal to convey their personal vision of music packed with incredible sound-design and a hint of experimentation. Their earlier tracks such as “Crump” and “Malboro Man” are just a few examples of transcendent music that still entices its listeners one decade later. Noisecontrollers’ admirable knack for production shuttled the genre of hardstyle into a whole new dimension, generating an overwhelmingly positive response from the public and not to mention, set the bar extremely high for the entire production process of hard dance.
Over the years, Noisecontrollers released hit after hit and to put it plainly, there’s no such thing as an ‘average’ or ‘mediocre’ Noisecontrollers track! Some unforgettable tracks include “Attack Again,” “Gimme Love,” “Tonight” with Headhunterz & Wildstylez and “Jaydee” with Toneshifterz.
In 2012, a new masterpiece was born – E=NC2 (The Science Of Hardstyle). Being Noisecontrollers’ first album, it generated an overwhelmingly huge response, opened the minds of fans worldwide and revealed a whole new side of the music that hadn’t been discovered yet. Their first album occurred simultaneously with two huge milestones in Noisecontrollers’ history: X-Qlusive Noisecontrollers in the Heineken Music Hall and reaching #27 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s.
At the conclusion of 2013 another huge shift dawned on the future of Noisecontrollers and although that Bas Oskam continued to carry the baton on by himself, if anything, the quality and popularity of the music grew even further to reach unimaginable heights. To cement Bas’ solo name in the scene, in 2014 he released one of the most unforgettable albums in the history of hardstyle: “All Around.” With such an unpredictable nature and such an intricate style of production, ‘All Around’ climbed to become one of the most influential albums that not only inspired other producers, but continued to inspire Bas. The album saw Bas touring literally all around the world and he is now safely allowed to say that he has stepped foot on every single continent (besides Antarctica).
After an incredibly successful 2014, 2015 was upon us and until April, fans were unaware of what Noisecontrollers had up his sleeves for the Summer. When the announcement dropped that he was working on a studio album, the scene was pumped up with anticipation for his third album to arrive. Released on the 1st of June, ‘All Night Long’ can be described as a genuinely creative exploration of the art of music. With a range of experiments cooked up in the Noisecontrollers studio, the album approaches not only hardstyle but trance, dubstep and so much more. Some highlights of the album include the title track “All Night Long,” “Infinity” and “Here We Go.” With the album just in time to rock the Summer festival season, Noisecontrollers is definitely one act that should be on every hardstyle fans agenda!
We say, long live God!
