Artist Of The Month – February 2016!

You know what they say; time flies when you’re having fun and the month of February is no exception to the rule! This month may be a time for ample carnaval festivities in The Netherlands, however regardless of the season, our artists are working around the clocks to bring fresh and innovative material to fans during all months of the year!

As ‘that time of the month’ again and amongst the copious amount of artist announcements, we had an extra-difficult time choosing our stand-out artist, however this month we decided veer away from the ‘big guys’ and let a deserving young duo have their time under the spotlight. This particular act has worked exceedingly well over the past couple of years; not only have their productions rapidly improved, but they’ve crafted a very promising and recognisable sound that’s scored them plenty of bookings at the most illustrious events.

Ladies and gents, we are now very proud to present our artist(s) of the month for February… Prefix & Density!

Beginning their musical journey as solo artists, Wouter Haarhuis and Bas Claassen soon got in touch via an online forum, resulting in initial collaborations before teaming up permanently in 2008. In 2011, after the release of their “Warning” EP on Spoontech Records, the pair soon experienced a huge breakthrough when DJ Thera took a special interest in their music, soon signing Prefix & Density to his label Theracords after they won the Ground Zero DJ contest.

The pair has always thrived on a balanced combination of demolishing kicks, penetrating screeches and life-like atmospheres which can be heard in their earlier releases like “Breakout,” “The Future” with Blackburn and “Soundwaves.” Although these mentioned releases were a little ‘underground’ at the time, Prefix & Density began hitting all-time heights after releasing huge banger “Never Come Close” alongside The Vision. Little did they know that this 2014 hit was symbolic of their future successes in 2015…

At the beginning of 2015, Prefix & Density announced their overhaul as part of their “Brain Meets Brutal” concept, a notion that celebrates the separate strengths that Bas and Wouter bring to the act. Accompanied by a brand new look, two killer EP’s were released in light of the concept, containing some of their biggest hits to date like “Contrast,” “S.T.F.U” and “W.U.F.U.” These tracks not only secured Prefix & Density’s name on some of the biggest line-ups, but also gained immense support from the scene’s pioneers and fans around the globe as the duo’s signature sound solidified their position in the hardstyle scene.

After experiencing one of the most successful summers to date with performances at Dreamfields, WiSH Outdoor, Rebirth Festival, Q-BASE, XXlerator Raw, Loudfest and many more, the pair wrapped up 2015 with plans to make 2016 even bigger! And guess what? They fulfilled their goals within the first week when they released “Just A Memory.” Climbing to take the #1 spot on Hardstyle.com for weeks on end, this hard, yet atmospheric masterpiece captivated listeners worldwide and has already been deemed a standout track of 2016!

We’d like to congratulate Prefix & Density for taking the throne this month; it’s definitely a well-deserved victory and we can’t wait to see and hear what this power-duo has planned for this coming year!
