It’s official, spring have finally sprung and fans are ready to conquer the festival season, making the inevitable promise that this summer will be one for the books! With the biggest line-ups dropping right before our eyes, we can’t help but to feel burning excitement for the greatness ahead, anxiously awaiting what artists and organisations have cooked up for us!
So as we roll on forth into a new month, it’s time to shine the spotlight on an incredible artist who has recently experienced a handful of momentous changes in her career this past month. Some of you may have seen her gliding through the air at Masters Of Hardcore in a massive boat and others may have her album currently rolling on repeat; nevertheless, our artist of the month has worked extremely hard, so we’re going to take a moment to commend boss bitch for all of her hard work and dedication!
We present to you, our artist of the month for April… Miss K8!
At an initial glance, Kateryna Kremko may appear as another pretty face, but oh, oh, oh, how misguided you are. This Ukrainian ‘goddess’ has worked intrepidly to earn her throne in the world of Hardcore, changing the game and setting the standard for female artists. After becoming hooked on the rougher sounds of electronic music, K8 began her career spinning in underground venues in Kiev. Not only that, but she also organised various Hardcore events throughout Ukraine with the hope that she could spread this sound to the people of her country. The result of her work was tremendous and also got her in touch with Masters Of Hardcore, who were instantly blown away by her mixing skills, extensive knowledge of Hardcore and her captivating interaction with the crowd. Three months later, Miss K8 officially became an artist on the MOH label, marking the beginning of a prosperous and life-long musical journey…
Her initial 3-tracker “Unforgettable” EP was picked up extremely well by the Hardcore community, making her an instant hit amongst fans and organisations as she gained bookings at Dominator, Free Festival, Emporium, Monday Bar and many others in her initial year. Her following EP, “Divide & Conquer” alongside Angerfist truly solidified Miss K8 as a force to be reckoned and after it was followed up by her 2013 “Breathless EP” the public knew that there was no stopping this femme fatale! With K8’s sound covering the vast spectrum of Hardcore, she’ll surprise you with unexpected boundary-breaking elements, energetic vibes, rough atmospheres and high BPM madness!
After experiencing a quick rise to triumph in 2012 and 2013, the following year brought forth new ventures for Miss K8, who was invited to create the Dominator anthem “Metropolis Of Massacre,” featuring MC Nolz. The anthem itself generated such an overwhelmingly positive response and in combination with her memorable performance, Dominator was merely symbolic of just how far K8 had come.
More top-notch events filled up her schedule in 2015 as Miss K8 graced crowds at Defqon.1, Masters Of Hardcore, Intents Festival, Summerburst, Defqon.1, The Qontinent, Decibel, Q-BASE, Supremacy, Syndicate, Bassleader, Unity and many more. Symbolic of her dedication to Hardcore and endless effort to her career, 2015 brought forth her biggest milestone to date – her #94 position in the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100. As one of the three female acts voted in, this meant huge things for Miss K8’s career and also the Hardcore scene that she proudly represents.
Music-wise, 2015 was a little quiet for K8; however at the time she was busy working on her debut album “Magnet,” which dropped less than a fortnight ago at Masters Of Hardcore. The night itself marked one of her most spectacular performances to date with her anthem “Raiders Of Retaliation” being dropped as she was raised upon a crowd of thousands of die-hards. The spin-off from the evening was incredible as “Magnet” has already been climbing the charts, making it one of the stand-out Hardcore albums of today. Containing a range of smashing collabs, remixes and fresh originals, fan-favourites include the titled track “Magnet,” “Bogotá” with Angerfist, “Gravit8,” and “Icebreaker” amongst others.
We’d like to congratulate Miss K8 firstly for taking the title for artist of the month and secondly for the release of her debut album. We’ve already listened to this masterpiece and can confirm that it’s worth a listen for both Hardcore-heads and casual fans!
