The Qontinent lights up with unity – Warface holds one minute of silence to farewell a fan.
For fans, artists and professionals alike, it’s a solid fact that the Hard Dance scene boasts the most cohesive community in the entire music industry. Our broad catalogue of artists are renowned for their down-to-Earth attitude and for always making time for their fans. Whether it is replying to their messages on social media, having a chat side-stage or knowing their fans on a first-name basis, it’s evident that the Hard Dance scene really is a tight-knit family where ‘status’ isn’t so important.
Most recently, a tragedy called for the scene uniting to become closer than ever. Last week devoted fan Christophe Saelaert sadly passed away and as soon as this devastating news reached the artists and fellow fans, they did not hesitate to post photos with Christophe, expressing their sadness and displaying their respects.
One particular artist who was familiar with Christophe’s enthusiasm was Warface, who expressed his sadness through Facebook. Posting a photo of him alongside the dedicated Christophe, an array of heart-warming comments flooded the post as fans united to share their condolences. Christophe was a truly devoted fan; he started the official Warface fan page and also supported him during every performance.
At The Qontinent, which was held last weekend, Warface held one minute of silence during his set to pay respects to this devastating passing. The entire crowd turned silent for one minute as they remembered a cherished friend and valued member of this scene. Last night when Warface posted the video online, the scene erupted with emotions as a global appreciation for this very unity was solidified.
Despite the tragedy surrounding Christophe’s passing, it’s so incredible to see the unity between fans and artists. There may be politics, bullshit and plenty of online banter in the scene, however it’s during these tough times where we can step back and appreciate how beautiful this harmony is.
On behalf of the Alive At Night team, we would like to take this moment to send our condolences to the friends and family of Christophe. We are praying for you and sending strength to you during this tragic time. One lost too young, however he’s forever in our hearts.
