#TBT – A well deserved tribute to Headhunterz’ “Rock Civilization.”
Moving on forth into the warmer, more joyful months of the year, right now it’s really all about those ‘summer’ vibes and tunes to transport you outside of your everyday life. I guess that festivals are all about that notion; losing yourself underneath the sun (or rain) and not giving any fucks about exams, work or any other stress bombarding your life. Whether you find that inner harmony by having your ears kissed with demolishing kicks and penetrating screeches or in floaty, relaxed melodies and cheesy vocals, it’s important to remember that despite the range of different sounds, it’s the same 150BPM magic and lifestyle that unites us all…
Nevertheless, for a while we’ve been spotlighting some awesome music each time Thursday rolls around, throwing it back to certain tracks that have either been forgotten or the unforgettable classics that simply need an extra round of applause. This week, we have a massive track lined up that may just make you weep tears of nostalgia. So without further ado, let’s take some time to appreciate our #TBT for this week, Headhunterz’ 2007 release “Rock Civilization.”
It’s apparent that as a devoted Hardstyle fanatic you would know the vocals by heart and if you don’t then you have some serious catching up to do. I’m telling you, the way that Heady executed the production of this timeless gem will make you second guess that the original vocals came from Pendulum’s “Slam.” Despite hearing “Rock Civilization” at every major festival (at least twice), this majestic masterpiece never bores me and it’s probably one of the few tracks (alongside Sandstorm) that could be made into a 10 hour mix and I would not even be mad.
Fans who are still feeling the hurt from when Heady shut the door for good, we apologise profusely for the possibility of tears, but there was no way that we weren’t going to feature this time-transcendent, golden nugget of a track. For as long as the scene lives, the legacy of Headhunterz will live, so let’s take a moment to cherish this remarkably fine production and also remember the incredible impact he left on our scene.
“Somewhere out there in the vast nothingness of space…”
