Yes we know, a great portion of you party people may have enjoyed yourselves a little too much and on this depressing Sunday evening you are definitely feeling it’s side effects to say the least. I surely saw many bung-eyed people on the train heading home from Arnhem this morning and I was instantly inspired to write this article for all of the broken souls and fried brains out there. Hangovers, “scat-brain” and post hardstyle party depression can be quite crippling as we roll out of party mode and back into reality so hold tight as I take you though a few quick tips of how to feel as though you are a human again (rather than a fried egg).
1. Bananas are mother natures comforting hug for a fried brain:
Research suggests that the amino acid “tryptophan” (which is found in bananas) helps your body make serotonin, which of course, you are in desperate need of. In addition, bananas have some quality vitamin B6 which is vital in order to manufacture seratonin from tryptophan. A perfect post-festival snack could be a banana smoothie with Greek yogurt, milk (for strong bones, dah), honey and a handful of muesli for some well needed carbohydrates. Good nutrition can always help alleviate those ‘scat feels’.
2. Get some zzz’s:
Although you may have been on some epic bender that has been lasting since Friday evening, you are definitely doing yourself no favours. It’s a no-brainer that sleep can help restoring all of the right balances within your brain and body and if you have been awake since Saturday morning then your brain is probably as useful as a shriveled grape, so cut your losses and get some sleep!
3. Make yourself clean and comfortable:
The worst thing about all night outings is that you feel this weird uncomfortable feeling on the way home after the rave. Other than the fact that you are gacked off your nut, this discomfort can also be associated with the fact that you’ve been exchanging sweat with thousands of strangers, your makeup is badly disheveled and you’ve chewed your entire face off. My advice is to have a nice warm shower, brush your teeth, make yourself as clean and as comfortable as possible including changing your clothes – it makes a hell of a difference.
4. Hug it out:
You don’t have to go through this alone, when wired and on the dreaded come down, it’s always important to have some close friends nearby to give you a hug when you start to encounter those ‘feels’ creeping up on you. If you don’t have any friends then I suggest to hug a pillow, that’s almost as good.
5. Remember the good memories:
You’ve had a life-changing experience at a party and at the time all you could feel was a reckless euphoria and blast of energy. However, Monday and Tuesday can bring a different story. As serration levels are on struggle street, you are more likely to feel tired, depressed, irritable and the last thing on your mind may be all of the fun that you had. Just remember what a great night you had and keep thinking of the great memories whilst your brain and body recovers. As soon as you know it you’ll be ready to conquer a whole festival season!
So there you have it! Some used and loved tips that can help you get through the nastiest of hangovers! We hope that you all have a speedy hangover recovery from Hard Bass and we hope to see you all partying just as hard next weekend!
