Australian Made: HSU Events provide world-class events to Sydney!
Down here in Australia, in terms of both kilometres and hours of travel, we are a very long way from Europe. As music fans, we’re accustomed to looking through our social media windows at what’s going on around the world and eagerly awaiting the day when an artist or promoter might decide to bring our favourite event concept to Australia.
How many times have you heard the comment “Oh I wish Qlimax would come to Australia!”? While it is indeed true that Qlimax is the epitome of harder styles events and it would be amazing to one day see an Australian edition of this world renowned event, let’s take a moment to appreciate the world class events we have right now in Australia, brought to us by our very own international hard dance event company: HSU Events.
HSU Events (Harder Styles United) began as a monthly club night in Sydney back in 2009 and since then has undergone a meteoric rise to become the creator of the largest indoor harder styles events in the southern hemisphere. Ravers travel from all over our vast country to attend Knockout Circuz in summer and Midnight Mafia in the autumn.
HSU’s unique event concepts are now an experience equal to that offered by many European events. Upon walking into the Midnight Mafia arena this year, before the start of the event, my jaw literally dropped when I caught sight of the incredible stage that had been constructed for the event.
Think about every mafia movie you’ve ever watched. In the dark streets of a city, late at night, a car parks quietly. The car doors open and a group of men in raincoats and trilby hats step out on to the pavement. A door opens at a nearby building and the men hurry inside. Lights go on inside the windows of the building, suddenly the music you thought was in the background reaches a crescendo… but wait, was that a gunshot?
That city, those mysterious buildings in those dark streets had been transported into The Halls at Sydney Showgrounds to set the stage for the HSU Events grandest production to date, Midnight Mafia 2017. Over the course of the next nine hours, this mafia enclave would host fearsome mafia dons including Psyko Punkz, Regain, TNT, Brennan Heart, Hixxy & Dougal and the most brutal bad guys of the Hard Dance world, Destructive Tendencies.
Chatting to some of the international artists on the night, when the artists shared their thoughts on the event one theme was clear; Midnight Mafia was in every way an event of international standards, on a par with parties in the Netherlands.
With a typically Australian sense of lightheartedness, the HSU Events team still engage with their followers online with a sense of humour sometimes not always found in major event promotions. Keeping it real and proving that when all is said and done they always will be fun loving ravers just like you, HSU Events are regularly sharing hard dance and rave related memes and videos, including recent special Midnight Mafia themed videos from Australian viral video stars SlenderTheMan and Eighty83Three.
Not only is HSU Events consistently throwing world class parties here in Australia, a few months ago the company took the big step of becoming an international event company, by taking over the iconic UK Hardcore event brand HTID. The owners of HSU Events have always had a great love for UK Hardcore and now have a unique opportunity to take the world renowned HTID events into their next phase of being, creating amazing new experiences for existing and new followers alike.
HTID In The Sun takes place in Mallorca in just a couple of weeks from now and along with a line up featuring the world’s best UK Hardcore artists, the event will include very special HSU Events touches including a full scale event production makeover and the inclusion of a Hardstyle set every night. HSU Events have even achieved the amazing feat of inspiring Audiofreq to write new UK Hardcore music, with one track having been premiered at Midnight Mafia and just maybe more in store for visitors to HTID In The Sun!
While traditionally we have seen overseas event companies coming to Australia, this time Australia is coming to the world. Are you ready?
