Artist Of The Month! April 2015

As Europe is slowly warming its lands, indoor parties are coming to a halt and our dreams of outdoor festival season are about to boom into reality. We ditch our coats and boots for long days dancing in the sun and artists swap those long hours in the studio with the ability to showcase their works to the world. Speaking of artists, many of our talented producers and DJ’s have been making waves and charming their fans with new music within the last month. However, one particular artist has especially stood out to us and after creating the anthem of all anthems, we thought that it would be nice to take a little look at this geniuses journey throughout hardstyle.

After watching his exceptional performance at Qapital last weekend, we thought that it was time to serve our monthly dose of appreciation to the one and only Ran-D.

Randy Wieland or better known on stage as Ran-D, is the definition of a true musician who has shaped hardstyle as it is today. His high quality and perfectionist approach to the genre has served him many years of musical success and a dedicated worldwide fan-base. As an artist, Ran-D shares his passion for music with his fans and brings 110% to every single performance, whether it be on a main-stage or at a small scale party on a Wednesday night.

Lets backtrack slightly. After one of his first gigs he noticed that his vinyl bag was missing, which would typically be a DJ’s worst nightmare, however for Randy it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. He was surprised to know that not only his vinyl bag had been discovered, it was lying in the hands of Special Records owner who was pretty damn impressed. This lost and found scenario resulted in Ran-D’s very first release on Special Records in 2006 and from then, he has never looked back. He soon gained support from his all-time hero, Zatox and also Alpha² who soon invited Randy to release tracks on A² Records. Two releases later, Randy received a call from Q-Dance with a request to perform at Qountdown and from then on, he knew that his hobby was evolving into a serious career in music.

Its no doubt that whatever Ran-D touches turns to gold. His unique edge and raw emotion within his tracks is what sets him apart from the pack. One particular aspect of his discography that is especially distinctive is the fact that he writes and sings every lyric. Taking great care for the tiny details within his tracks, Ran-D has proved that high standards and a perfectionist attitude towards sound design has paid off and allowed him to reach fans worldwide with his music. His career has been filled with highlights ranging from memorable performances at Qlimax, Hard Bass, Q-BASE and X-Qlusive to time transcending hits “Living For The Moment,” “My Way” and of course this years Defqon.1 Anthem “No Guts, No Glory.”

In recent months, it’s no doubt that Ran-D had been slightly quiet regarding his release schedule. Little did his fans know that in collaboration with Adaro, Frequencerz and B-Front, a new wave of music was soon about to land from their brand new label “Roughstate Music.” Now that the word is finally out, Ran-D has confirmed some killer releases on the label such as “I Am Legion,” “Wolfchild,” and “FCK EDM.” Standing for only the highest quality hardstyle, it’s no doubt that Roughstate Music is going to be a huge success within the scene.

So Ran-D, you truly deserved the ‘artist of the month’ title for April! We cannot wait to see and hear what’s next for you!
