AAN’s Picks: Top 10 releases of October, 2016!
This year has absolutely flown by, however before you can rush to the costume store to pick out your Freaqshow outfit, there’s still two more months to make 2016 impactful! And it seems as though that’s what all of our fellow producers seem to be doing, because the amount of immense beats dropped this month was spectacular.
As always, this month, we’ve collated our favourites into a neat little bundle of ten, as well as shedding light on our favourite ‘talent’ track this month.
*Talent Track* Denza & Hypnose – Pure Fantasy
This month, our talent track goes to Dirty Workz-signed Denza and forthcoming duo Hypnose for their latest euphoric weapon “Pure Fantasy.” Although it’s getting colder, these dudes will have you wrapped up in a blanket of feels with this uplifting, summery hit! With productions like these, it’s evident that the next-generation is looking promising as ever. Congrats guys!

#10. Marcus Decks – DMT
For those who love Frenchcore, I got something great for you! Released as part of his 4-track EP titled “Having Fun Or What?” Marcus Decks included a rather wonky-sounding track named “DMT” which is the epitome of an acid trip gone right (I mean this in the best way possible). Loaded up with crazy sound design and an eerie melody, this experimental production is undoubtedly one for the trippers.

#9. JTS & Technikore – Worlds Collide
For those who like keeping a casual eye on what’s going on in UKHC, this month has been all about the release of JTS and Technikore’s brand new album “Gridlock.” Serving as one of the main tracks of the album, “Worlds Collide” is a melodic-based hit that contains well-loved elements from Euphoric Hardstyle. You know what they say – life’s always better at 170!

#8. Amada & Drokz – Live Fast
You know what they say – “live fast, die young…” Terror legend Drokz teamed up with the lovely Amada to create a slammin’ number that’s literally a Hardcore fan’s wet dream. It’s fast, hard and rough – but don’t be fooled, “Live Fast” contains a totally unexpected melody that packs in rad party vibes!

#7. Digital Punk – Invasion (Sub Zero Project Remix)
Young duo Sub Zero Project have managed to really make a name for themselves over the past year. Their signature monstrous kicks are unparalleled, and as hard as fellow producers try to mimic them, it seems as though SZP are the only ones who can execute these kicks in a sophisticated way. Taking up the task to remix Digital Punk’s “Invasion,” the pair totally fucked shit up and managed to expose a new edge to this 2013 hit.

#6. Kronos & Malua – AHAH
Boss bitch Malua teamed up with no less than Italy’s finest, Kronos, to create a monstrous, ass-kicking track called “AHAH” (love the title, by the way). Deemed the perfect party banger, this track follows a basic, yet extremely effective structure as it contains all of the key components to blow up the dance-floor in flames.

#5. Blasco – Purple High
Bursting onto the scene just last year, Dirty Workz-signed talent Blasco managed to knock listeners out of the water with his brand new track “Purple High.” In terms of originality, it’s quite rare that I’m impressed by younger producers; not being a snob or anything, but their ideas aren’t very ‘developed’ as they also tend to play it a little too safe. “Purple High” doesn’t fall within the ‘sappy euphoric sing-a-long shit’ category; this track is innovative, creative and hits hard. I’m excited to hear what Blasco comes up with next!

#4. M-Project & Al Storm – The Twilight Zone
Get yo’ donk on bitches, because Japanese ‘rave’ prodigy M-Project has teamed up with UK-based Al Storm to create some beats that’ll blow your mind! The thing that I love about “The Twilight Zone” is that it displays that non-stop energy and drive Happy Hardcore is renowned for, yet isn’t so… shall I say… happy. For those seeking to broaden their horizons, I suggest you check out the M-Project and Al Storm’s discographies.

#3. Da Tweekaz – Tequila
Just when you thought that nothing could ever top Da Tweekaz’ signature alcoholic-crazed track “Wodka,” the pair somehow managed to pull together an equally-hyped follow-up that celebrates a slightly sour, distilled beverage that has magic powers… By the way, tequila’s ‘magic’ powers include memory loss, irrational behaviour, unprotected sex, etc, etc, you know the drill. Da Tweekaz absolutely nailed this track and it’s becoming quite evident that this duo are the pioneers in creating fun party music with a light-hearted edge.

#2. Tartaros – Party Starter
2016 has marked a massive turnaround for Tartaros, who’s really stepped up his game by releasing several game-changing tracks. Proving to be a serious player in the Hardstyle scene, his latest release “Party Starter” is nothing short of spectacular… In fact, from my point of view this may just be his greatest release to date. Containing an endless stream of addictive kickrolls, a driving, intense atmosphere and uplifting melody, Tartaros embraces the atmospheric-raw sound with open arms.

#1 *WINNER* Coone – Rise Of The Celestials (Qlimax Anthem 2016)
Of course this wouldn’t be a ‘top 10’ without a killer anthem! With the night you’ve all been waiting for just three weeks away, in light of this mysterious night of mayhem Belgian Hardstyle hero Coone had the difficult task to create a masterpiece with sole mission to burn down the GelreDome. Did he succeed? Well, considering he took out the winning spot in our list, I’d say hell yeah!
“Rise Of The Celestials” is a refreshingly balanced track that contains all the right ingredients required for a winning Qlimax anthem. Some harsh critics may not find this track particularly special right now, however after witnessing this number merging with an Earth-shattering production on the big night, you too will have it stuck in your head for days on end.
