Why you should vote HARD for this year’s DJ Mag Top 100.
In the DJ Mag Top 100 list from 2014, 10 hardstyle acts (excluding Headhunterz) were voted in to this ‘prestigious’ list, our scene only makes up 10% of this count…Don’t you think it’s time we up our game and show the world of EDM who’s boss?
To be honest, I don’t think that the hardstyle fans vote as much as fans of house music and other genres of electronic dance music and I think it’s about time that we try to make a change. The EDM scene is huge and the typical EDM fan usually takes these types of countdowns extremely seriously; not to mention, many EDM promoters book artists based on this countdown. The typical EDM fan usually cares about DJ’ing whilst hardstyle fans are way more fixated on the productions and which artist actually makes the best music which is a reason why a lot of fans don’t bother voting, we are more fixated on good music rather than image. Another reason why fans may not vote is that they feel that commercialism of the hardstyle scene is a negative thing, but would you rather see artists who are fake in the countdown or would you rather support the artists in the hardstyle scene who truly deserve that spot and the worldwide exposure? It’s definitely something to get thinking about and I know for sure that it is every artists dream to be featured in the top 100, so why not make the dreams come true of artists who have made our scene possible.
Being the close and dedicated scene that we are, it is very important to stand behind the music that you love and support and the way to see more hard dance acts in this list is to vote mainly for the most renowned names in the scene first, then work your way down to the smaller artists. With all due respect to upcoming artists and their work, but it is more likely that the bigger the name, the more likely they will be voted in by millions of fans around the world. It is best that we try with small steps and keep the previous artists in the count, as well as voting in 5-10 new names.
We want to show the EDM world that we are not a scene of plasticity and we do not believe in paying to take the number 1 spot, so show your support to the scene and let’s do our best to grow and prove that hard dance is a force to be reckoned with. As I mentioned, last year’s count mentioned the following 10 hard dance artists:
#37 – Angerfist
#45 – Frontliner
#47 – Brennan Heart
#48 – Coone
#64 – Radical Redemption
#66 – Da Tweekaz
#67 – Noisecontrollers
#71 – Zatox
#92 – Code Black
#95 – Wildstylez
In addition to the Top 100 count, DJ Mag revealed the names that took the 100-150 spots and the results of this were quite startling and also very impressive. A whopping 14 names were supported in this list which just goes to show that hardstyle has the ability to take over and with your help, we can do it and show the house scene who’s boss!
Here are the artists who were voted in the 100-150 section and are also artists that we recommend (along with those voted into the top 100) trying to vote into this years top 100 section.
