I’m not going to lie, Thursday is becoming my favourite day of the week. Not because it’s followed by Friday, but because week in-week out I have the pleasure of uncovering stunning tracks and throwing them into the spotlight for a deserved round of applause. Exploring the sands of time and voyaging into the distant and not-so-distant past, it’s important that we pay our tribute to the roots of the harder styles and commend the masterminds behind the noteworthy works that paved the way for the prosperity we experience today.

Enough rambling, you know how it goes. As another Thursday uncovers itself, so does another timeless, unforgettable gem… We are proud to present to you our #TBT for this week, with the honours going to Italian legend Technoboy, for his shining success from 2009 “Ti Sento.”

If I must, let me start by saying wow, “Ti Sento” makes me jealous of anyone who can sing in Italian, let alone speak that beautiful language. Every time I have a shot at singing those lyrics I just end up sounding like a retarded tourist who has little to no idea what the song is even about. With that being said, here’s a fun fact for all of you to chew on; “Ti Sento” actually originated from a 1985 pop classic by Italian singer Matia Bazar. You should check it out – it’s a gorgeous song! But, before I pay tribute to the Hardstyle version, I actually did my homework and translated the lyrics from Italian to English. Basically it’s a love song where the singer is asking “do you love me or not?” (Mi ami o no … mi ami o noooooo). 

Come to think of it, the 1985 original portrays quite a deep, beautiful and romantic storyline, which is something that many Hardstyle fans aren’t aware of. Once Technoboy worked his magic on it, the track transformed into something completely different, yet thankfully managed to retain an emotionally-fuelled atmosphere and romantic melody (yes, I just referred to a melody as romantic). Many Hardstyle aficionados can vouch that this is one of TBY’s most legendary works; every time it’s dropped, all members of the crowd are hit with a bomb of emotion. This is what Hardstyle is all about – forgetting life’s troubles and filling your soul with joy, positivity and intensity.

So Technoboy, congrats for taking out out #TBT title this week – Mi ami o noooooooooo!!
