#TBT – A well deserved tribute to Darren Styles’ “Come Running.”

Thriving on displaying a 360 degree view on the harder styles, we leave no stone unturned as we avidly showcase new tunes and of course, uncover old classics. Now, it’s no secret that the sounds of UK Hardcore aren’t immensely popular amongst the emblematic Dutch Hardcore fan and many of you may think that UKHC has no place in our scene, but oh, oh, oh, how misguided you are. Yes, UKHC is happy, energetic and light-hearted, but it spotlights a more emotional approach to 170BPM that Euphoric Hardstyle sometimes fails to do. I could go on all day about how UKHC artists should be better integrated into Dutch festivals, however I won’t. Instead, let’s celebrate one of the most legendary, heart-warming UK Happy Hardcore tracks to exist as we throw it back and spotlight this piece of art.

Buckle up ladies and gentlemen, and pay your respects to our #TBT this week – “Come Running” by Darren Styles.

Released back in 2008, “Come Running” undoubtedly did huge things for Styles’ career as well as becoming one of the most iconic tracks in Hard Dance music. Even listeners don’t give a f*ck about UKHC can still appreciate this masterpiece and every time it’s dropped, you can literally feel the crowd shift onto a whole new level of euphoria. Oh how incredible it would be to hear this during blasting out of the mainstage speakers during an end-show; I can already foresee the toughest, most built guys being reduced to tears and hugging one another.

You simply can’t top this masterpiece by Styles, countless remixes and edits have been created but nothing is as good as the original. However, saying this, earlier this year US artist Mija added a rather unique, trappy spin on this classic which uncovered a whole new edge to the track and it’s vocals. Nope, it’s not as good as the original, but it’s a damn cool way to blend in UKHC with trap!
