October, it’s time to make your grand entrance!
Speaking of grand entrances, our artist of the month for October made quite the appearance last weekend at one of the most anticipated indoor events, Supremacy. Claiming ownership over the event as the headliner name, Digital Punk first-handedly experienced one of the most incredible entrances that a DJ could ever do! Literally floating on top of the crowd during his majestic entrance whilst simultaneously dropping his celestial anthem “Supreme” with MC Nolz, this was undoubtedly one of his biggest milestones to date!
So, how did he get his career to such heights? (Literally) Let’s go back in time and explore Digital Punk’s musical journey and highlights.
Raised in a family who were very musically open, Rene de Bruijn, or better known as Digital Punk was never a stranger to the endless possibilities of sound. After becoming intent on creating his own productions, Rene kicked off his career in the jumpstyle arena, releasing his first tracks on Tremble Tracks. After a few years of finding his feet within hard dance, Digital Punk shifted his passions towards hardstyle which subsequently resulted in releases on Seismic Records such as “Bringing The Funk,” and “Dark Symphony” with Profyler. These were the releases that indicated his talents, ultimately leading him to continue his legacy.
In 2010, Digital Punk became a part of TiLLT Records as he released a collection of unforgettable hits as well as his debut album “Escape From Reality” which saw him enriching the musical experience by collaborating with the likes of Noisecontrollers, B-Front, Zatox, Scope DJ and Max Enforcer. The release of his album was one of the early milestones in his career as it put the name Digital Punk on the map and also generated a heart-warming response from fans and other artists.
His next move was becoming a part of the infamous A2 Records team, which saw his career climb to new heights and his signature sound becoming refined as ever. Face-melters such as “Natural Born Killers” with Adaro, “Born To Die,” with Ran-D, “Oblivion” and of course, who could forget “Radiant” – his collaboration with Crypsis and also the ‘theme’ song that represents his podcast, “Unleashed.”
Working incredibly hard during these recent years, Digital Punk worked his way up to a gratifying peak. Days and nights spent in the studio translated into some of his biggest hits to date such as “We Don’t Give A F*ck” with Frequencerz and MC Nolz, “Rest In Hell,” his remix for Radical Redemption’s “The Black Demon” and unreleased bombs including “Whiplash” with Adaro and “Unleash War” with Warface.
Boasting a packed-out performance schedule, Digital Punk has experienced some milestone performances on the Defqon.1 mainstage earlier this year, Intents Festival mainstage, Q-BASE, Dominator (where he announced his Supremacy anthem) and of course, Supremacy where he stole the show with his incredible performance!
Unleashed As Ever
In March 2013, along came ‘Unleashed.’ Not only launched as a podcast but also a platform to represent the best of raw hardstyle, Unleashed grew exponentially to become one of the most appreciated shows in the harder styles. As well as being a platform for fresh meat in hardstyle and new tunes, Unleashed became a worldwide movement with lines of merchandise and also two outdoor festivals in 2014 and 2015 which sported some of Digital Punk’s fondest memories.
Most recently in 2015, the man himself was incredibly honoured to announce his first tour with shows in Chile, Spain, Poland, Italy, Germany and of course, his freshly announced event concept ‘Nothing Can Hold Us Back’ which will be held on the 19th of December at Time Out, Gemert (The Netherlands).
Question is, will YOU be getting Unleashed?
