AAN’s Picks: Top 10 Releases Of September!
September has been a fruitful and prosperous month when it comes to great music on all spectrums of hardstyle. From old-school reverse bass, to spine-shivering melodies and rough, powerful atmospheres, artists have been working hard to bring their a-game when it comes to their productions. With a plethora of new music out in September we had a pretty hard time picking only 10 but we managed to narrow it down to our favourites based on originality, versatility and catchiness. Let us know what you think of our list and comment below with some of your other favourites!
#10. Getting Off – Frequencerz & Titan
Listeners, don’t be fooled by the rough and hard intro because an unexpected melody is about to hit which ultimately takes this track to the next level! The thing I love about “Getting Off” is that you can hear influences by both artists. Feel Titan’s roaring earthquake kicks hit you in the face and Frequencerz’ majestic melodies surprising your senses. I’ll now leave you with an incredibly inappropriate comment to top this off: Who else will be ‘getting off’ to this one?

#9. DLTBGY – Cyber
Did someone say reverse bass?! Our favourite bar of Swiss chocolate is taking the hard dance scene by storm with his insanely catchy sound, one release at a time. His newest bomb “DLTBGY” is the perfect example of euphoric hardstyle done right. None of that EDM influenced shit, none of that slow 140BPM shit – this is how real hardstyle should sound and I’m so joyed that it’s rubbed off on the next generation. The level of energy in this track is incredible and until the melody kicks in it’s easy to mistaken it as one of Audiofreq’s productions! Well done Cyber, we love you!

#8. Get Down – Da Tweekaz
It seems as though Norwegian duo Da Tweekaz are on a continuous roll when it comes to smashing out quality releases time and time again! Everything that they touch instantaneously turns to gold, including their newest gem “Get Down,” which has had quite some playing time in their sets throughout 2015. Although its a little ‘slower’ and not as bouncy when you compare it to the rest of their discography, it still packs in that awesome quality Da Tweekaz never fail to bring and it has the AAN stamp of approval!

#7. Fuck You, Pay Me! – Warface
One of the most anticipated albums of the year “The Nine Circles” by Warface has finally landed and guess what – there’s actually something for everyone! When we caught up with Warface last month he mentioned “Fuck You, Pay Me!” as one of his favourites from the album and well, I guess that great minds think alike. The track itself has quite an accessible sound which is something that particularly drew me in; it’s something that I can see myself dancing and singing along to – so kudos to Warface and congratulations on this HUGE album!

#6. Brain Smacker – Outbreak
I’m going to put it plainly, Outbreak is one of the most underrated artists in the raw scene at the moment. Yes, he made “Bassface” which was a huge hit and all, but in my opinion his other productions are a lot more sophisticated – including “Brain Smacker,” a track that I’ve had on repeat these past few weeks! You can hear that this crazy Aussie is really trying to do something different and as much as I want to refrain from using the shitty term ‘rawphoric’ the track really does combine the best elements of both spectrums.

#5. End Like This – Code Black & Wasted Penguinz
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from pioneering Aussie Code Black, but I must admit that the long wait has been worth it. Teaming up with the drunk Swedes, AKA Wasted Penguinz, the guys combined the very best of their signature sounds to create heart-grabbing, melodic and slightly sultry bomb “End Like This.” Although the track packs in a darker feel as compared to their usual uplifting sound, it’s refreshing to know that this ‘melancholic’ sound still exists.

#4. Just Do It – Delete
With all due respect to Delete’s previous releases but this HAS to be his best production yet, I see it becoming one of the biggest tracks this year. The chords he used in the melody is a huge contrast to his usual dark, sinister and industrial sound – it’s incredibly refreshing to hear something that stands out so much within raw hardstyle, yet still retains that classic ‘Delete’ sound. Kudos to Delete on this highly original piece of art – keep it up!

#3. Divine – B-Freqz
B-Front and Frequencerz are perfect examples when it comes to raw hardstyle done right and when they are behind studio doors magic and all things “Divine” are certain to occur. This track is absolutely HUGE, The larger-than-life atmosphere and spine shivering melody is something that can appeal to all listeners in the harder styles, but beware, that melody has a 99% chance of being stuck in your head all day long.

#2. CTRL – Technoboy, Tuneboy & DJ Isaac
Attention – they’re still here and going strong! Technoboy, Tuneboy and DJ Isaac are three legends that have joined forces to prove that they’ve still got it. “CTRL” is old, yet new, fresh and is an example of what true hardstyle sounds like. After experimenting with different sounds these past years it’s really nice to see that not only Technoboy and Tuneboy but also DJ Isaac stay true and show honour to their roots.

#1. Up There – Frontliner & Geck-o *WINNER*
What happens when our favourite experimentalist and the melody-man lock themselves in the studio? Gold, magic and pure euphoria are just a few words to describe the result of their collaborative efforts. To all the aspiring producers out there, you need to listen to this track and rediscover the endless amount of possibilities for innovation within hard dance, there’s so much more to it than making a melody and creating a one-dimensional atmosphere. I chose this track as the winner this month as it doesn’t particularly follow a ‘set’ structure, it flows so beautifully and the the little drum & bass part in the middle makes it so unique and outstanding when you compare it to other euphoric tracks made during this time. Huge props to Geck-o and Frontliner – although this probably won’t be the most popular track on TSOF2, it’s deserving of our number one spot!
